NO, it's not. Warmer means the entire wave is present, not just a sample of it. Digital tends to thin recordings because it's hard to sample low end waves due to their "size". With vinyl, the entire sound wave is represented, literally, on the vinyl itself. Sure. the equipment, being analog, will have problem such as wow, flutter, distortion and hum--but I submit that all of these things actually add to the character of a recording. Believe me when I say, once you listen to good quality vinyl on a good sound system, you're sold on it. It simply blows away CD in "sonic presence".
Analog has natural compression, too. It's very possible to go "over zero" in analog. With digital, you simply can't do that, so to make something "louder" one has to destroy the dynamics of the recording by slamming all of the frequencies against a digital wall. The end result? One lifeless recording that makes someone fatigued just trying to listen to it.
Seriously, if you ever get the chance... get a copy of something on vinyl and on CD (the same recording) and compare, on a decent stereo. You'll be sold on vinyl instantly. It simply SOUNDS BETTER.
Well, it's too bad then isn't it... after playing with Vista for a long long time during it's development process, I can tell you without a doubt that it's actually WORSE than Windows Me.
Don't believe me?
You don't have to. Just watch the fireworks when this thing is officially released.
People do not have to buy the damn thing if it offends them.
I am so sick of fascists like Jack(ass) Thompson trying to force people to live by his moral code.
Expect MANY people to downgrade back to XP once the only pre-load on new machines they can get is Vista.
It will be fun to watch. Vista is out, MS is advertising it, and most people are still using XP with no plans to upgrade--even going so far as to downgrade when possible.
...especially since myspace video requires Internet Explorer to even work. ANY other browser nets you an error message if you so much as try to play a video.
Maybe IBM hasn't been called out because they open their drivers, and AMD as well as NVIDIA do not? Just a WAG.

Vinyl kicks ass. Still sounds better than CDs. MUCH warmer.

A whole LOT of things about Vista are incomplete! (Like, perhaps, Vista itself?)
I mean, what else is there to say? The SAMBA team has said it all. Truly an excellent response. Sums it up perfectly. Thanks for sharing this story.
Simple. Because they couldn't claim IE was part of Windows if the browser was able to run in any modern form on a different platform.

Yes.
