If my entire existence serves only the purpose to disabuse a few folks of the notion that it is the government's place to make life fair, I will have done well...
You talk as though people earning that much haven't done anything to get to that point. Who would want to come out of school as a doctor, saddled with a quarter of a million dollars in debt only to get to pay 90% in taxes for their trouble? How about we all just pay the same tax rate and let math take care of making everything "fair"?
I could just as easily claim that the people who continually issues the iPhone keyboard are people who can actually type. Or that the the people who like the iPhone keyboard are rabid fanboi's who are so trapped in their Apple-worshiping love-fest that they can't see the obvious fact that a non-tactile keyboard is a pretty stupid way of communicating.
Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack your original post. The OP seemed to be so patently wrong I figured I'd interject a gripe about the mod system sprinkled with an attempt at humor. I agree with you completely about Android; have one as well.:-)
But I suspect I'd be better off hoping to see Megan Fox splayed across my bed.
That depends on how good her security is and how dedicated you are...
KIDDING!!!

F-22 Raptor Cancelled

The Raptors are already irrelevant. According to this article in the LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-f-22-plane22-2009jul22,0,750816.story) they have NOT been used in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The Raptors are irrelevant because they have not been used in the current conflict. Brilliant! We'll just wait and whip up a defense real quick as soon as the next conflict surfaces - no point on being prepared ahead of time!
I apologize if that comes across flamey. The logic was just so far off in that statement I couldn't resist responding. And, before anyone goes off the deep end, I'm not advocating we build a billion F-22's. I would advocate building whatever the military says they need to keep us safe.
I love how you lecture me about making assumptions, after I politely pointed out that I wasn't sure, and then you go on to assume I was talking about the "free market." Nice wall of words, by the way.
I don't see what's so complicated about this; as the resources we are currently using to derive energy become more and more scarce it will, as a matter of course, make other sources of energy more appealing. A point made without a reading assignment - novel concept...
As far as the debate over cap and trade goes, I would like to hear what its proponents have to say about what will happen when the US enacts it and other countries do not.
I assume by "limited resources" you are referring to fossil fuels. That being the case, doing nothing will eventually see the price of fossil fuels rise to the point that solar, wind, nuclear, whatever else you care to name, will become competitive and eventually cheaper. No need for this cap-and-trade boondoggle; things will take care of themselves.
How is that flamebait? The guy relates his personal experiences with pot. Not that I endorse such a thing, but I don't think we want to get into modding people down just because we may disagree with them. But then, I guess I'm a little late on that one.;)
We require an informed electorate. Something currently in short supply.

Their wealth represents an unfair accumulation of wealth far beyond their value to society.
As decided by whom???
Do you have any evidence to sway me to your way of thinking?
Oh, well then it's totally OK to bend those people over...

Please mod parent to the moon.
WOOSH!
they should have corporal punishment.
Who's gonna go through a company and spank everyone?

Of course, if you did, you'd be correct.
If only the mods knew the difference between then and than...

Where did the knee-jerk come from?
I'm more interested in knowing how the knee-jerk got modded up...
But I suspect I'd be better off hoping to see Megan Fox splayed across my bed.

I wish I had mod points... :)
Religious schools.
You need to stop disagreeing with dachshund. Then, come back and maybe you can contribute something... [/sarcasm]

If you don't like cap and trade, then what would you suggest should replace it?
Nothing.
Not a single +Funny for this one? I guess I'm the only one who laughed when I read it... :(
Of course, his logic is infallible, too.
It has worked for the cable companies up until now. I don't imagine the cable companies will be able to continue in the face of real competition...
