Any other John Barnes fans out there? I would recommend "Mother of Storms" to anybody. The book looked like just another long boring disaster story but he really makes the hurricanes and everything seem so lifelike. Essentially the plot is by a basically politcal decision which led to a lot of methane getting dumped into the atmosphere from under the polar ice cap, the average temperature in the ocean rose just a few degrees.... It has a lot of cyberpunk elements (and some sick stuff too) but for me it was a very enjoyable read, just like most of Barnes' novels. Think: Supersonic hurricanes going in circles around the oceans splitting off babys and causing tidal surges that actually are intense enough to go OVER the Florida penninsula, Japan, Great Britain, etc.
Gran Turismo 4 was supposed to utilize the hard drive if equipped, but they've taken that feature out since the decision was made to not include hd with PStwo.

You would pay almost $20 just to get a cd full of Britney Spears or Barbara Streisand at the record store. together all of a sudden as a result of
the terroist attacks in New York, Washington D.C.
and in Pennsylvania? Nope, they had that
ready and waiting for the opportunity to
introduce it and it would be likely to be passed.
Ask yourself...what were they waiting for.

I have faith in ID
opensourced all their games and planning
to q3 soon. Also, q3 took like a month
to get the binaries out, but in general
there isn't much to fear, id has confirmed
the port anyway
Spend a little more time with ut2004 (best
multiplayer game), play a lil' playstation,
tweak your computer a lil.
It was badass to be able to buy ut2004
and install it off the cd, but at least
id is making a linux port as we type, unlike
half-life, which disregards people like me.

In the case of quake 1, along with the game on the cd, you also get an awesome set of ambient music. You would pay almost $20 just to get a cd full of Britney Spears or Barbara Streisand at the record store. Why not cut your losses and figure you are paying $15 for the soundtrack, and $5 for the game?
I can't speak for ATI but my nvidia card and 'nvidia' module have made the transition from Xfree86 to Xorg just fine.
