Hey moron, it's competition within a industry not between industries. That means cable companies competing against other cable companies, not cable companies competing against telecom companies. During the '90s the FTC ruled that Dish Network could not buy Direct TV because that would eliminate competition within their industry. Dish Network pointed out competition from cable companies. The FTC said that was not competition within their industry.
RTFA: " The Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2, or OCO-2 for short, will be able to take an ultra-detailed look at most of the Earth's surface to identify places responsible for producing or absorbing the greenhouse gas."
What like wasting money on that bull shit nonsense like a manned mission to mars. Yeah real good use of money *eye roll* FYI studying the climate is one of NASA's job moron.
*Sigh* Too many stupid people with free time and internet access.....CO2 absorption. Plants absorb CO2, which reduces the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere which means LESS heat is trapped in the atmosphere. Don't plant more trees because snow reflects heat...that's a good one.
" I for one continue to suspect the biggest driver of climate change and CO2 levels will prove to be deforestation not humanities use of hydrocarbon fuel sources."
Read your sentence couple more times and the light bulb might actually go off.
Really? You do understand what an experiment is don't you? You do know what informed consent is don't you?
Web design, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. But more importantly, web design is not about illiciting an emotional response from a user, it's about navigation. How easy it is for people to navigate your site. But if you want to get caught up in putting dancing bears on your web page so people can get a warm and fuzzy feeling, whatever.
What the fudge does that have to do with anything? Facebook was promoted as a way for people to share information. Business use Facebook as a way to promote their products and provide specials. No where does is it clearly stated that you will be used as subjects in an experiment and not know about it. There's no informed consent. If people willing participated that's fine; based on some of the comments it sounds like people would have.
Which still would not constitute informed consent. When taking part of an experiment, the participant must be informed. You are not considered automatically enrolled and have the option of opting out. The fact that people don't grasp this simple concept is fudging scary.
First, no it's not, nice try. Second, people are aware that it is marketing/advertising. People were not aware they were part of an experiment. That the point Potsy.
For the cognitively impaired: Advertising is is identified as advertising. The experiment that was conducted was not identified, people did not know this was occurring. The "researches" did not get informed consent - which you are required. The "researches" claimed the EULA was the informed consent.
"...but they'd be a hell of a lot easier to solve if researchers weren't hamstrung by ridiculous information privacy restrictions."
Researchers aren't hamstrung by privacy restrictions. The fact that you said that shows how utterly ignorant you are. You think disclosing people's medical records isn't a violation of their privacy and that it won't be used against them, shows you don't care. People's medical conditions have been used against them. That's why there are privacy laws moron. Time for you to back under the rock from once you came.
No one and I mean no one in the scientific community thinks the existence of the Higgs Boson means the universe should have been crushed. Morons are trying to push crack pot theory. Some jackass is trying to come up with way that something more exotic exists. There is ZERO experimental data that supports this line of thought. The Higgs Boson exists, get over it. Start reconciling gravity with the Standard Model. FYI yes the Standard Model does account for gravity, they're called gravitons. Science reporting is seriously fucked.
RTFA: "The PSC merger proceeding has attracted nearly 2,000 comments, the vast majority of which ask the commission to block the sale"
And your problem with that statement is what now? Also the article used as examples two people and their reasons for opposing the merge.
Complaining that the article has not listed everyone who oppose this merger is just inane.

Get a clue.
...lot of pinheads posting anonymously.
Somebody didn't read the article. So you work for the Heritage foundation.
That is NASA's job moron.
Like I said, stupid people with time and internet access. Too bad they don't spend the time reading the articles they comment about.

Sorry that's already taken, it's called a "Haliburton"
" I for one continue to suspect the biggest driver of climate change and CO2 levels will prove to be deforestation not humanities use of hydrocarbon fuel sources."

LMOL....uh no they've under predicted the temperatures. But then saying that wouldn't prove your point.
Not when you are looking at ice core samples that go back millions of years. Check and mate.
You and the Earth is Flat Society must have a lot of fun together....

Wow? Manipulating emotional response is not part of web design. Somebody failed high school.

THANK YOU!!
Fudging morons who think data mining is the solution to health problems. Gotta give Larry Page credit - he got the morons on his side.
Seriously....it's a solution in search of a problem. Engineers the oompa loompas of science....

No most do not and this is a bull shit hypothesis.
