    * you're paying cash or credit
    * you're not using any coupons

    * you have 5 items or less

I've set things on the machines and they'd complain about items removed from bagging area or whatever, and would just freeze up, waiting for an employee to swipe their card, punch in a pin, and allow the transaction to continue.

Many times I've said "fuck it" and left the transaction at its midpoint, seeking out a cashier who had a line of customers rather than wait an employee to notice a small blinking red light 8ft off the floor.

You might take a look at IPCop or Smoothwall. Both give you access to the Linux command line, so you can use IPtables to do whatever the hell you want. Smoothwall might, possibly, have some sort of add-in to limit bandwidth by bandwidth or zone, though I'm not sure.

Ahh, yes. iptables... the intuitive interface of the linux command line combined with the arcane of networking. I used to have an old P133 as a NAT box (slackware) that also did a few other server-related tasks, and I had some iptables rules configured. I think the truth of the matter is that unless you are very, very well versed in networking, you can't write your own rules and end up copying some stale rulesets from things you find on the intarweb, hoping to bend them to your needs. I never knew what the hell I was doing aside from reading (and re-reading) the multitude of TLDP docs out there and trying, trying again and again. I was lucky I was only rooted once [that I know of].

These days, I prefer the ease of most router interfaces. I know they don't typically provide the flexibility, granularity, or power that some may want, but they probably account for the needs of 99% of typical users.

What the FUCK have you done to the layout, styles and scripting on this god-forsaken site? I've tried both FF4 and IE8, but have the same problems:
    • * hyperlinks in comments don't work, as if they've got an {onclick="return false} in them.
    • * comments frequently do NOT show their moderation scores, and I have to keep opening ancestor comments until the scores are revealed.
    • * The right-click context menu doesn't come up in FF4 unless I DOUBLE-RIGHTCLICK.
    • * Sometimes when clicking on a comment (to expand from abbreviated mode), parent comments will be opened, and my window content scrolls, causing me to lose the original comment I was trying to read.
    • * These <li> elements aren't displaying their bullet-points when previewing comments (and probably not after posting, either), so I've gotta stuff asterisks in front of each of them.

To be honest, I'm not one of those who has been carping about the new layout and design of Slashdot. I'm actually fine with that. But it's got to fucking work. Otherwise I'm ... oh fuck it. I'll probably come back anyhow. But you should know what a shitty job you've done of QA.

There are many different types of pills, and it's possible that women who find their libido affected by one kind can find another that doesn't affect it, but working your way through the options can be a laborious process -- and since you don't have any real desire for sex anyway, it doesn't seem like much of a priority (at least, not until you look back on the last year and think, "wait a minute...").

It's just anecdotal, granted... but my wife was on the pill for many years, and yeah, libido was low. She changed to an IUD (don't know the exact type, but I understand it also confers some small hormone amount), and that changed. It's not a tremendous change, but an improvement nonetheless. More to the point, then... does that mean you think this film qualifies as "sci-fi"? More importantly, is it "good sci-fi"? There's frequently vast disagreements about what qualifies as sci-fi, and what does not (Doctor Who, some say).

I'm not a scientist, just a schmuck on the Intarweb... but so long as the boiling points are different, couldn't the distillation procedure be done in a way that vaporizes the water (removing it), leaving the iso behind?
