I called the 2Checkout.com company in Columbus, Ohio (where I'm from). The payment company has been around for over 4 years and has over 80,000 clients. They said that they have checked out the laptop site. While he didn't say that they have seen the laptop or anything, the customer support rep (Josh), said that this is not a fraudulent site. He said that they will continue to monitor the situation, and if they determine the site to be a fraud, they will be issuing refunds. He also said that if you did not recieve your laptop after 4-6 weeks, please call them and they will iniaite the process to either get you laptop, or will directly refund you from their account.
On top of that, my credit card company (BoA) said that they will honor the purchase for Chargebacks if the laptop deal turns out to be a fraud.
So thats double security. I say its worth the risk. There is a high chance that if this laptop deal is real, they will not be offering this deal indefinately.
You know Skybus is a new startup airline and is selling airline tickets for as little as $10, and no one claims that they are a fraud. It is possible to sell something fully knowing that you are loosing money. Specially if they are doing this for publicity.
Perhaps you don't get it. America was founded on these principals. Read the Declartation of Independance. Therefore, the system will continue to act upon these ideals. If they don't, the government is supposed to disband, read the constitution. Honesetly, if you have a problem with America, you can fight, but the majority wins.
If Bush got releceted, the reason is because half of America either likes Bush or hates John Kerry.
Regardless if you don't believe in it, (using your own words against you), you have to respect that.
You are free to dislike American Government and I'm free to dislike China's government. Perhaps this makes more sense. Thats the way it works here. America was founded on ideals that didn't just government accept authority as the ulitmate truth. There is a higher power, and Government shouldn't outstep its bounds to try to strip mankinds born rights.
Well, by that logic, America should of never separated from Britian. By deffination, American was founded on Government that works for the people, not the other way around. When censorship goes out of hand like this, we need to encourage the Chinese citizens not to lay down and let their government keep them down.
How are we supposed to have world peace if we have counties like China arresting common law-bidding (usually) citizens who just want to speak out against their country. Google has rebealed against CHINA, so YAHOO, you're either with us, or your against us.
Well that could be true, but is the color from specifcally the type of crystal, or perhaps the position of the crystal in the saber. Perhaps, like a prism, you can get all colors of the rainbow from just moving the crystal a slight amount. Since blue light has a higer frequency then red light, does that mean that a blue light saber can only be achieved by a more skilled jedi because he/she is more percise in positioning it?
They never explain what gives the ligtsaber its color? Isn't anyone concerned about this? Jeeze, they missed such an important point, its like they made all this suff up...
You know, I've taken many business classes and they have nothing but great things to say about Wal-mart and its successes. Not that this guys should be censored, by no means, it is people like this that keep businesses in check.
But Walmart and its "evil" practices are by no means worse than any other major retailers. By all the ways Wal-mart does in order to increase its bottom line, couldn't you say the same about K-mart, Meijer, and espesially Sears. Go ahead and throw Amazon.com in on the mix. All this guys arguements agaisnt Wal-mart hold true for many of em.
My professors have discussed advertising budgets, and the truth is, if you compare marketing dollars to marketing dollars, Walmart uses a third less on their budget than K-mart. And you thought all those commercials were a waste?
I think it really boils down to Unions. Every complaint I've ever heard against Wal-Mart has something underlying the fact that these unionized retailers can't. Now wether or not, they should unionize, I'll stay out of that, thank you very much. But come on, just come out with it, you hate Wal-mart cause they won't unionize!
I wanna go here, where the school seems to repect their students and gives them the benifit of the doubt, instead of the otherway around. "Ha ha ha, now all your base are belong to us". "We screw students and could care less what gutter they beg on when they leave, TAKE ALL MONEY"
Okay, Ohio state never said that, but they sure wanted to, I asked them when they let the feds storm our dorm rooms and ransack our computers searching for P2P. That sure screwed some people for life, thanks alot OSU.
I would think that carrying around a 4 pound battery and connecting it via USB would be more of a pain. What if that one fell? It might render your laptop minus one USB or whatever your using to connect it to your laptop.
And Swapping batteries might be a pain cause you have turn off your computer and then switch, but newer computers, like the TC1100 and such, you just put it in standby mode and switch the battery, so you never have to reboot or hibernate. And laptops have different types of latching mechanisms depending what manufacture and form factor your using. So its not a valid generalization to make that batteries fall out because of faulty worn out latches, which I've never witnessed or heard of. (Not to say that it can't happen, I've seen some where you can screw them in just to make sure)
I know a lot of people who swear by those kinds of batteries, so I assume they are handy. But personally, I just invest in an additional battery. But if you have a chip that should be in a desktop, like I used to have at one point, then I can see the usefullness, cause those things only got an hour and half.
By "using", I'm not quite sure if people would be running DVD's or word processing or code writing or playing Quake. The whole centrino thing is tailored toward light usage, thats how they save battery time, but then many laptops nowadays claim to play DVD's continuous for 4 hours
Seriously, this guy is going on and on about how this company is screwing themselves by doing something new, when in reality they were screwing themselves by keeping with their old "outdated" product. They realized that they need to keep up with technology. Or get left behind.
I keep two batteries on my TC1100 and continously get 7-8 hours off of them combined and they only weight like a half a pound a piece because they are the 3-cell batteries instead of the standard 4 or 5 cell.
You know, I hear slashdotters have been compared to information hungry virus, they swarm on poor defensless windows 98 webservers and flame em. We consume and then move on to another...
Okay, you guys didn't belive me... so you made me actually prove it so here...
http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/mars/mars_c re w.html
and down there you'll see a link giving details how we could go about getting back,
or go here http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/mars/ma rsretu.html
And no, you don't need some Atlas rocket, or something additional, that would be ludicrous because that would just be adding more and more additional weight for the shell, rockets, and equipment, all you need is addtional fuel. Why would you guys think outside of the box, and realize that we build NEW equipment to do this, not try to RE-USE our old equipment, We're NASA for crying out loud, thats what we do (well, the shuttle, that must of been a fluke idea, but we still need new main fuel tanks ^_^)
I just noticed that there isn't an off the wall Mac comment here, and we are talking about Speed, so let me just say what hundreds of half-wits have said before..."My G5 Mac is better" and and not to mention: "with my 30" Cinema display, that means that its 30 times faster"...I win ^_^.
You wouldn't need more speed if you had my computer (its even complete with speed holes).
Let me start off on an apology if I sounded rude. What I wanted to point out is that your concern about the increased gravity is a serious issue, but it isn't black and white.
Reading your comment, you sound like you are stating that the increased Mars gravity will basically cause a return trip back to earth to be extremely complicated in the sense that it could either not be done, or almost a shot in the dark.
What I was saying is that NASA has already figured all this out. How do I know? Well, I assume they have because I already did these calculations in one of my orbital mechanics classes back at OSU. The science behind this is actually very clean cut. Its rather rigorous math (involving Laplace transforms, 2nd order PDE's, and variable coordinate transfers) but it is all calculable. Of course real world is different, but just over engineer, that's what we've all been doing all along.
All you need to know is, in order to perform mission A with cargo and weight B, we will need to have an ISP (specific impulse) of C. Then the question is...Can I make an engine with an ISP of C with out the extra weight D approaching B? Well 40 years ago, perhaps not, but with advancements, the answer is yes. And the trust can come from many different Engine designs, not just traditional combustion rockets (thus saving fuel and weight).
I guess what your concern is, using something like a Saturn V, can we make it back from Mars? I would venture to guess no. I would like to point out that the Saturn V was made with only going to the moon, not mars.
What I'm trying to say is, if there were no feasible solution to a return trip to mars, do you think that NASA would be hiding it from us, too scared to tell us the truth?
Look, unless you happen to be a rocket scientist, perhaps you should leave the heavy thinking to the NASA engineers. (I happen to be one, but think of me as a wanna-be myself, as I am transferring over to the Electric space propulsion division soon)
Anyway, I would agree to your comment, that yes, due to Mars gravity, it would be hard(er), well harder 40 YEARS AGO. Technology and efficiency have taken great strides these past 40 years, and we feel confident in our ability to make a rocket that does what its supposed to do.
I can tell you, that Mars manned missions have been fully detailed with many many different mission paths that could be taken. For instance, using Ion propulsion and launching from the International space station or the moon are one of the many possibilities that have already been detailed by many scientists and engineers.
Give NASA a little faith; you don't need to back seat drive them like some little ol' lady.
Seriously, thats why BT hasn't jumped ahead of its competetors, why would I justify a $60 dollar headset, just so I don't have to plug my FREE handsfree headset in? And I'd love a BT mouse, just not at the price of $70.
No, you shouldn't have to install anything new, thats the Magic of Bluetooth. Unlike others, (from what I gather, anyway), Bluetooth is very multi platform - multi manufacture - multi user friendly.
Besides, you can bet that if MAC picked this up, its not going to die anytime soon.
Well, I have to agree with the others. Mr. "I've had a cell phone for 8 years" (blah blah blah, that means I'm an expert about everything now and in the future, blah blah blah)
Seriously dude, it sounds like you've just been buying whatever came with your contract because if you actually studied the statistics, you'd know that Nokia and Motorola own a Substantial part of the US market. (ever given thought to why its now the NOKIA sugar bowl and the Motorola half time report) However Sony Ericsson owns a good part of the Asian and European market.
Oh, and since this is about Bluetooth... your Motorola brand has a good selection of Bluetooth phones
I bet you said the same thing about TV remotes when they first came out, before you went out and bought one.
I suppose you don't see the need to have bluetooth on a cell phone, because your just sittin happy with paying 99 cents a jingle and having to pay extra fees per month just to get that picture off your cell phone, to your computer.
Let me ask you this? Do you see the need for IrDA? If the answers no, I don't want to talk to you, and if the answers yes, then understanding the usefulness of Bluetooth can't be to far away.

There problem solved,

My TC1100 has the cpu vent on the screen itself, so the keyboard dosen't generate any heat and merly reflects it back.
Plus all the new Intel ULV chips, some of them don't even use active cooling anymore, but its nothing worse than taking a warm bath?
So is that the new health hazard, Hot water Baths has shown to reduce fetility, both too much and too Little

Yeah, don't blame BT just because Nokia cuts every other corner on their cell phones
Yes, thanks for finding the handful of devices that do not implement IRDA, now it can be said
Except for those devices listed above, all other laptops, cell phones, and PDAs use IRDA
Seriously, almost every new laptop has IRDA (its so trival that most of them forget to mention it as a feature, both laptop and cell phone)
