But energy from space can go to space again, the problem with the greenhouse effect is that it makes it harder for the energy to leave than to enter. With fewer greenhouse gasses the energy that gets beamed down can leave just as easily, too.
Because the laws that exist (namely the constitution) don't permit such restrictions? Also because these politicians probably want any rating higher than E10 to mean it can't be sold to anyone, including adults?
Option three: Pandering to the religious south and/or incompetent/ignorant parents. Maybe just ignorant politicians, too. There are politicians so ignorant on the matter they want to pass laws that already existed for years (politicians wanting to create mandatory ratings in Germany a year or two after they were introduced).
So games containing porn aren't allowed to be sold to minors... I don't see how that would be a change. No other form of restriction exists for movies, MPAA ratings are just as unenforceable as ESRB ratings (if the MPAA really had that power do you think selling unrated DVDs would even be legal?).
(what about states?, by implication they also cannot infringe the national constitution)
If we go by what's written, the first amendment only limits federal powers and a later amendment (I don't remember those numbers) points out that what the federal govt can't do is left up to the states.
Depends. We're spending a lot of money to get pictures of the different planets in our solar system despite most of them being completely unsuitable for habitation or even terraforming. If we saw another civilization we'd send some probes there out of sheer curiousity.
That, or we might already have destroyed ourselves in some way by the time the signals get anywhere. Same for the other civilizations, who's to say that even if we get their signals, that they are still alive by the time we read them or even worse, get there?
The US has a lot of inertia, once a technology is established, especially when it's one that requires more than one party to upgrade their equipment, changing to another one will take forever.
That'll go down as production ramps up. You can get these things for a few Euros in Europe (you can even get bunny ears with built-in DVB-T receivers) and Europe is usually much more expensive than the US.
I don't know about you but I avoid eating anything fatty when I'm on the PC because I have to touch the mouse and keyboard and when my fingers are covered in fat I'm not willing to do that. Besides that, I'm not able to eat or drink while playing any videogame because I can't afford taking my hands off the controls for that long (even ignoring the dirty finger issue, just moving stuff to my mouth takes time and might make me vulnerable to attacks in the game).

Isn't that what lawmakers are for? Reviewing and changing laws that exist when necessary?
Do you think they can pass a change to the first amendment without the public going berserk?
That or use certificates like those that are used for all kinds of security and trust measures.

I don't think preventing downloads was his goal, just getting it to work.
That one person must have WAY too much money considering CD prices...

So we're going to see the Ministry of Silly Walks?
Only if you have enough metals in your nutrition... Which would currently kill you.
Pah. Add a nanolathe and we'll start talking. The DGun is completely optional.

Dunno but from what I've seen Yahoo China has a "warez search" option.
Indeed. I've seen demonstrations of the effect back in 2000.

It's no major feat to trick a PEBKAC into running something as root.
