Bloat Smote! Look. Just because KDE is adding new and exciting features does not mean they are slowing it down. The developers have mentioned numerous times that their main priorities are performance and optimization.
KDE is comming of age and I believe it will one day help Linux catch up with Windows. In order to do such, they must make the Desktop Environment easier to use to attract pampered Windows users (yah, i said it). Not to mention, Why leave something like this in CLI where most new Linux users rarely go. I rely on command line more often than I should have to. The whole concept of a Desktop Environment is to put a nice wrapper on the CLI so you can do the same things in a different light. There are two kinds of people, CLI users and GUI users and its fine to be either.
People should not complain when new features are added. Embrace and extend (unless it turns out to be total crap of course). Remember this is open source... dont like it, take it out!:)
My $0.02
I, for one, welcome our new feature overloards.
I'll just make sure that I remain shape shifted in cat form then. :)
AAAAAH! Too much pressure man! *twitch* *twitch*
