  1. Makin' Money No Matter What... on Charter Cable Capping Usage Nationwide This Month · · Score: 1

Ya... it seems that most people are starting to turn to the internet to watch video. So a cable company is getting upset that the bandwidth is getting larger, see's it's loosing viewers, and wants to compensate themselves for it somehow?

  2. new space craft != new orbiter on NASA's New Shuttle · · Score: 1

So this is might be a great craft to get men to the moon, however, this is not a "replacement" of the shuttle. The shuttle is an orbiting craft that can deploy cargo from it's bay. This craft is nothing more than a souped up version of the old apolo crafts. I don't see anything really revolutionary about this.

  3. cost + commercials on Piracy Not To Blame In Decline of Moviegoers · · Score: 1

My theater has been rising prices 50 cents every couple of months. It is now $8.50 per ticket. To see a movie, my wife and I would pay $17 to get in the door. Then of course we want a big popcorn and a couple of big sodas. That sets us back $16 (for 2 cents off soda, and a buck worth of popcorn). Then great we spend over $30 for a date. Now, there are 5 commercials to sit through before I can get to the previews. Dear god, I used to go to movies because TV had too many commercials.

  4. Really now? on The Future of RSS is Not Blogs · · Score: 1

There have been several "opinion" articles like this out there. Most really are just guesswork. I haven't seen many people give an ideas like this, implement it, then say "like this!" If the authors of these stories think they have the next big idea, take the time to put it to practice, then waste the time on an article.

  5. Re:Oh, pish! on Is Apple The New Microsoft? · · Score: 1

I agree. So itunes music doesn't work in other media players. Is that really bad? Should tires you buy work on all cars? NO. When you buy music from apple, you buy it knowing that it only works on apple ipods. Was this a sudden mystery to some folks? Apple saw a problem in the online music industry. It implemented the ACC protection because they HAD to. Now making it work only on their stuff is limited. But if you don't like it, then why would you buying it? Go and enjoy napster. Oh wait, that doesn't work on all mp3 players either. rant.

  6. Re:and.... on Google Gets Away With What Microsoft Couldn't · · Score: 1
I agree the services don't suck.. however, the implementation does. It is really hard to find the good servcies on Google. Why? Some are hidden.. some are called beta (though their idea of beta is pure batty). I think they should restructure their site. The site was good when all it did was offer searching. A simple interface and logo is all you need.

However, Google has grown beyond this. A simple nav bar (text even) would help greatly. Drop the word Beta on anything that has been around more than a couple of years.

Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE GOOGLE, however, I would like to see them clean up their act a bit.

  7. spooky actually... on Online Cigarette Customers Get Bill from State · · Score: 3, Interesting

Ok.. So this really isn't about cigarettes.. and it isn't about how the consumers got cigarettes. Read inbetween the lines here.. All States are suffering because the feds have cut their funds. They are trying ANY way to make more money. This is just a test case for this State. Like it or not, if this goes smoothly without opposition, the WILL start taxing every internet purchase. Don't think this taxing everything under the sun is getting out of control? Take California as a good example. For years they have been pushing their citizens to drive less, drive fuel efficent cars, and or use fuel alternatives. This actually SAVED them money becuase their is less pollutin = less sickness. Now they want to tax cars by the mile using GPS because "hey, we are loosing SALES TAX on gas! Forget the fact that these smaller cars probably rip up the road much less than a large gas guggling truck. Forget the idea that it was their idea that consumers should drive smaller and more efficient cars. And dear god, forget that this will also save in health bills throughout the state. Then again.. I ramble... :)

  8. Almost every movie studio uses quicktime... on Video Formats for non-Windows Users? · · Score: 1

First look at other sites that offer different options. The largest of these are movie sites. Most movie sites almost always offer quicktime videos.... Then it's either .wma, or real. I think real is bogus (but this is a personal thing). I would give quicktime the slot for a good canidate. Really do look around though. I design alot of contest sites for major movie houses, the client always asks that it is put into quicktime.
