These other places you mention in asia aren't "the world's second largest economy" or G-8 countries. Japan is full of those "so advanced" in one way/"ages behind" in others. You'd expect a better standard for a supposedly advanced country. That's all I meant in regard to that...
Tokyo's not a city, but a prefecture...I live here...Now if there's anything that can be done about the rest of the criminally high prices in every other aspect of life in Japan. The economy here will never recover because so many families have a few million in the bank, but are afraid to spend it. Nothing's moving. The government wants more kids so they'll have more tax-payers, but not only is the cost prohibitively high, standards for pollution levels, building safety, etc. are in the gutter with all the other corruption...
Shopping in Ginza isn't the best move anyway though their Mac shop is tight and there are some great places to drink around the station(which station, right?) If you'd really played it smart you'd notice there's a contest on Suntory's Oolong Tea(since you're apparently in Tokyo) to win an iPod...You could've at least given that a shot before throwin' down money...
How better to desensitize herds into accepting it...
Think of the stormtroopers in 5th Element...ubiquitous A/V mapping in Demolition Man(not to mention Arnie as pres.)...eyescanners in Minority Report...going back a ways, total identity check in Gattaca...
The question isn't what affect this has on the now...What's the long term goal here? I can't fathom...
Imagine Columbus, Magellan, Polo, any of them being asked for biometric ID! It's as ridiculous as the concept that any of us really own anything!
