Jedi's got some weird features, they are supposed to do such things.. that's why they exist.
Yoda is also a jedi, but he has to use his abilities to get rid of the staff.. Who wouldn't get a bit tired after a dozen mctwist and backflips, he can't use them all the time.
And while we are talking about realistic stories; a water core.. it does exist ice moons. And anyway it is Sci Fi.:)
