I do find Lord of the Rings to be an arduous and sometimes tiring read. And given that it's well-known that Tolkien wasn't a writer by trade, perhaps it's possible to admit that the books as written as not as valuable as the world created for the books, and so long as Jackson was true to the world, the details can lay to the side somewhat?
