This isn't really surprising. The tech started here in the US, so that made us #1. But the rural spread of our population makes market penetration quite difficult, thus resulting in countries with higher population densities pulling ahead. Hate to say it, but our population density is a lot lower up here in the Great White North. There are a couple of reasons why I believe the penetration is greater, but they'd only come across as "Canadian superiority double-speak"

Religious organizations should stay out of most political debates, however this particular debate surrounding changing the existing definition of civil marriage does have implications of morality and opinions from the religious community are justified. Christians (and we are obviously talking about the orthodox or hardline segment of the total Christian population) are beginning to get the impression that what they believe to be "full freedom of religion" isn't what is guaranteed in the Constitution. Just because someone once wrote something down, and a bunch of people belived it, doesn't mean that that it ok for everyone. "Freedom of speech" arose from the priciple that anyone should be allowed to voice a POLITICAL opinion without reprocussions. i.e. Saying "The King is a fink" without getting tossed in jail. This principle has been highjacked for decades by those who believe they should be able to say anything and not bear any responsibility for saying it. Hate legislation has been brought in to curtail the abuse of the freedom of speech principle to prevent the nauseating flood of garbage from those that cannot accept the opinion (or existence) of others. You want to live your life according to your religious doctrine? Go for it. You want to curtail my life because it doesn't fit your doctrine? I don't think so.

The death throttle was how this series was being killed off by Enterprise . . . No, you are correct, I was aiming for death rattle but missed. Enterprise is slightly better than Voyager, but that's like saying the pistol is better than fists in Doom, when there is a perfectly good rocket launcher available. Voyager was crap, Enterprise is slightly less offensive crap.

I though Voyager WAS ST dying. Enterprise is just the death throttle. Let the horse corpse lie until the current producers/execs have passed on, and turn the creative and writing control onto people who care about good writing and good acting. Umm . . . Would that also include the treaty the US will be violating when they go ahead with National Missile Defence? The US government only uses the rule of law when it happens to point in the direction they want to go. Look at the NAFTA treaty. When a partner does something they disagree with, they pull out NAFTA and beat them with it. When the NAFTA board and the WTO agree that American policies violate NAFTA or the WTO, the US goverment fights it in court until the end, then ignores the ruling. Arrogance? Yup. But what can you expect from a government that has leaders that cannot be seen to admit that their policies were incorrect? How about those WMDs as an excuse for the war, whoops, we meant that this is a humanitarian invasion

The bombs were dropped on Japan for two reasons: 1) quick way to end war in Japan to avoid massive American casualties 2) clearly demonstrate that the US had nuclear capabilities to deter Stalin.

Read the base specs for Doom 3. That PIII aint' gonna run it at all. Have a look at the minimum specs for Thief 3. If you want to play with all the bells and whistles, you need a current rig. My machine is 2 years old, and its starting to show its age. I've been holding off, but the very recent jump in min specs, specifically for Doom 3 will push me over into upgrade land
