this is my thought exactly. I do download songs from p2ps and if I like them I buy them. If the album stinks I buy the single and if the song stinks I don't waste my money. The media markets have flooded us with hundreds if not thousands of options. Then to put a ruling out like this one just sets up the dominos for the ruling on the VCR and countless other rulings. the real way to put RIAA and MIAA in there place is to simply boycott everything so the power is back with the consumer. If it's to expensive don't buy it if it doesn't operate the way you like take it back. Big Media is winning because consumers let them. Take back the power.
I disagree. Even though it has become easier to download a movie, most people don't bother because of the gates you have to pass. Plus don't forget about the new ruling on P2P software that could make it harder to use a P2P to download movies.
It's simple really. Just imagin moviename.com offering a download of the movie after its cinema release. Something in the way of a bittorrant that requires some sorta user authentication that charges per download. You then have a quick and easy form of ditribution. If you send the torrent file to someone else it will either charge your account fo the new download or a new authentication is created. What do you all think of it?
I've found that a large part of the certification "thing" is to build a base for the software or hardware company. They can say "Our hardware/software is known by more people and therefore will be more efficient to use for you." It's just another way to force companies to spend money on something instead of someone. Certs should be created and governed by sources outside of the company and do more then certify you in an OS or application. Learning is good but only if you get some true knowledge from it. I've also noticed that mosts cert documentation doesn't really explaine why only tell you that's the way it is so deal.
