I'm not sure it's always arrogance why developers think code is clear. I think it's more that you are knee deep in the code you just wrote, and know it so well that it *seems* very clear. It's only when you come back to it much later, or have to explain it to someone else that you realize "oh, I guess that wasn't so clear at all".
I believe it's being added to the Canonical repository rather than the Ubuntu repository. This is where other commercial software is available, such as RealPlayer and VMWare Server. It's not enabled by default, however.

The only changes I see are for the worse, not the better.
