All these pictures with lovely red and purple and green and blue balls are all fine and dandy, but they don't actually tell me much. Sure, they roughly show me some interesting looking stuff, but it's been done before, and isn't very useful at all. What I really want to see is a map of the world, with all the internet links put on it so i can see how, for example, england is connected to america or mainland europe. I think i read somewhere that the UK had a 3 terabyte cable link to the rest of europe, and I think it would be a lot more interesting to see those cables shown on a real map.
http://inphase-tech.com/products/tapestrydrive/ind ex.html I think that this is a lot more interesting, as although we have huge hard disk capacity as we are, we dont have large removable disk capacity (unless you get a removable HD caddy)
For mods, it's OK, but it's simply too high a level code for the main game. Battlefield already runs too slowly on my computer (UT2k4 works 10x better). I don't want it going even slower!
I agree, I find it exceedingly annoying that in my year at my school (about 150 people - year 9 : 13/14 year olds) only 2 people are interested on programming, (myself and a friend. He can't grasp the basic concept).
People think I am amazingly clever because i can change a hyperlink in html without going through all that frontpage crap.
All computer slideshows are reffered to as "Powerpoint presentations" simply because that is all they know.
One person in my class (notably one of the more computer literate ones) thinks that "you click on the big 'E' to start the internet", and recently as a joke i said to someone else, "if your internet ever breaks, just reinstall it from the CD - that should work" and to my surprise i got an "Oh yeah! why didn't I think of that?" response.
Ugh! stupid people! all around! help!
The network admins run all the servers on win NT, and the computers aren't useful for doing anything interesting, there is no CML - the most useful peice of software is called "notepad".
I have heard on many occasions "I don't know anything about that computer nerd crap, you fix it - you're the boff."
I wish they would teach us something useful in IT lessons, rather than spending half the time explaining how to add a new slide in powerpoint, then sending us away to do it. I want a useful lesson, like programming in C or something similar. I'm only 13, and I wish I was around in the days when unix or the like was commonplace.
This is more of a rant than anything else, but it seems like it fits here.
Well, it doesnt look like my brother has posted but i just thought you might want to know that he built a fusion reactor in our garage. If you read http://henryhallam.cjb.net/~henry/fusor/ it it shows how he made it, and shows some pictures. It does seem to be about table-size.
Yes, I think this is a very dangerous issue, but might also encourage the isps to improve the speed and quality of their serviec. Who knows, this could be a geed thing!
Still not quite young enough - I am 13 and I started using linux about a year ago. I really really wish I didn't start off on windows now.My computer works for me now, I don't work for my computer.
Doesn't this mean that every single compiled program is in breach of this patent? Doesn't every program/script/whatever need help from the OS to run? I suppose we can't use DCOP now as well
This is the same sort of thing as with different human languages.
We understand "tree" to mean "quite large tall object with green and brown". If we learn German, up to an extent we see "Baum" (tree) to mean "tree" which means "quite large tall object with green and brown", so there is an extra step in there. if you learn to be an advanced translator/german speaker, then you skip that step and see "Baum" to mean "quite large tall object with green and brown", cutting out that extra step.
But then... isn't that precisely what humans do? React on their surroundings as dictated by their instincts? Because you, are just a bunch of instincts using memories.
I completely agree with this, and I am surprised that noone I know thinks the same way. can I use it as my sig?

it is pronounced "oh queue oh". in the video on their site http://www.oqo.com/hardware/video/ that was how the woman pronounced it.
i think that is is stupid to make phones with PDA, camera, and mp3 capabilities. it would be much more sensible to simply add a phone capability to somethig like a palmone Zire 71/31/72 or a tungsten T3. PDAs already have loads of features and it cannot be so hard just to add a phone onto it! then we would have a powerful handheld with wireless net and stuff. or just get a palmone Tungsten W

How the hell did a kid get away with a machine like that? Wouldn't you notice pretty soon and get it back? What's the full story?

I seriously doubt it

It's a typo you hypocrite, no-one else seemed to care.
