Not entierly correct, the drawing code still needs sending to the grahpics card, the faster it can be sent to the card the faster if can be displayed.
A faster processor will allow the graphics code to be sent to the card faster allowing it to draw faster, so giving higher detail and framerates.

the graphics command draw triangle is executed in the processor, and then passed to the graphics card which actually works out how to draw it.
If either one cant kep up with the detail level oyu have performance issues and slowdowns.

I agree, the public transports there and it works, its just not convenient and slower than private, my 20 minute drive to work would take atleast the 90 minutes of yours because of the route I'd have to take on the bus, and I'm not aware of a train station near where I work.

using public transport, I would have to get a bus into town (10-30 mins depending on traffic and other passengers) as I live on the suburbs, then get a bus from the town center out the other side of town (another 10-30 mins) it will then take the back roads via a few villages to get to the town I work in so instad of a sohrt trip down the A1 its a long trip round the area, after finally getting into the right town, I'd probably then need an other bus to get near my office.

That might take up to 2 hours assuming the busses actually connect and I'm not waiting around. The alternative is to drive, 5 mins and I'm out of town, 10 mins down the A1 and 5 more mins to work.

that means atleast an extra hour in bed, or use public transport and all I'll have time to do is work travel and sleep.

not aclue about the cost of the buses I'd need but its just not convenient to use them, becasue I live in the wrong place.

public transport in cities or towns are fine aslong as you dont want to travel the 10 or 20 miles to the next main town, becasue all the buses go through the villages on the way.

but even with any public transport changes, I bet we'd stil have the wait half an hour for a bus and then 3 come at once problem, but thats caused by traffic and customers, they get on the first bus so the second one doesnt stop, and catches up.

what we need is not better fuel, or better public transport, we need working startrek style teleporters

wonder what kind of polution problems we'd get from the matter to energy conversion...

Last year (I dont know if its any better now) if you connected directly to the internet with an unpached unfirewalled system, chances are that you'd have some kind of virus/worm infect your computer within 30 seconds.

It sounds like you have a pretty good set up there though, and some good habits but I'd still recommend getting some free antivirus just in case, not that any of my machines ever find anything, but its extra peice of mind.

Our biggest dificulty is teaching everyone with a computer good practices, so they can protect themselves so we don't have to, but that would put a lot of support staff out of their jobs.

The best any of us can do is set up systems to minimise any problems caused by our users, managers think they need admin rights to all systems, in a lot of cases its just easier to set everyone up as an admin as so much seems to depend on it lately. You cant set up decent security because the users complain, make screens lock if they go into screen saver? cant have that because it takes time to unlock enforce complicated password policies? they get written down the best we can do is protect a system with anti virus, and catch any intrusions that happen before they have any serious effects

If they manage to cure all known illnesses and death by aging, all we'd have to worry about is death from injury.

I didnt realise there was no points on your licence for being caught, if the fines because its considered dangerous driving then it should carry the same punishment really. But I must say the police have had a few stories in the paper about charging people with dangerous driving for eating while driving, I'm sure if the roads straight and clear if your holding the car straight and able to see the road ahead, it should be safe to use your left hand to eat or hold a phone, if on the other hand your puttin gmakeup on in the mirror then your not watching the road or your holding the phone or eating in an busy area or on a corner you need both hands then if you dont crash yourself you should be punished for being stupid and unsafe. On a side note are there any offences that get you less then 3 point or anything not a multiple of 3? if not we might aswell have a 4 point licence
