It's taken them several years and untold billions of dollars, but finally NASA has a project they can handle. *drum roll* they can re-paint a 30yr old rocket. I'm glad my tax dollars and american pride is so well invested.
I don't hate java, but the results don't make sense. If the code is implemented in the same manner for processor bound tasks, there is no reason that java would out perform C++. Java isn't fully compiled (it runs on the JVM) and necessarily has extra overhead.
you find a job as a programmer if it isn't taking a way jobs.
If you think writing professional code is something that a trained monkey can do then you must have the IQ of a retarded gold fish.
You guys are missing the point and getting into a flame war between windows and linux.
The misconception is that 'linux' is one particular entity and the general statement that it's faster. That doesn't mean old computers running Fedora/Mandrake/Suse v99999999x with all of the web services enabled and the latest WMs with all sorts of 'features' will run fast. That simply isn't the way of things. If you want a fast box, install less crap and turn the services off. Likewise though, Linux also needs to provide 'features' to people that want them.
How old is your father because he must be falling asleep while waiting for windows to launch. There's no way you can reasonably use XP on a 400mhz system!

Three percent of the total job market is largely being outsourced as IT/Programming jobs which is some ungodly percentage of our sector!
