  1. Re:What the hell? on Parody or Satire? Threat To Sue JibJab · · Score: 1

I think that the Native Americans should be getting angry, but not at Jib-Jab...I think the part to which you refer was the most incisive (albeit disurbing and sad) part of the whole parody. The sad fact is that the Native American population was conspicuously absent from Woody Guthrie's conception of "Our Land", as well as every single utterance of the word "We" from the Declaration of Independence to the current conventions. I'm of the opinion that the word "we" is one of the most dangerous words in any language, because while it is based on a premise of inclusion, it inevitably creates a simultaneous category of exclusion. When the writers of the Declaration of Independence wrote "We the people..." they were most certainly excluding the indiginous populations, as well as the black slave population--thereby implicitly justifying the genocides that were and would be committed...

I have about 35000 on my insight and have a lifetime average of 65.5...However, the first 2 years I owned it, I lived in CT, and had a 40 mile daily commute at moderate speeds (45-65), and would frequently get 70+ miles per gallon (per tank)...my best tank was 75.6. I've seen some people claim 80+ for their lifetime average, but always assumed it was driven by Sisiphus or something.

I would agree. while I can see plenty of nice uses for this product, if, as it seems, this product will not output sound from from anything except itunes, I would have to pass. what I personally need is to be able to send audio from various programs to my nice stereo in the living room to audition it. There are plenty of work-arounds that are easy enough for most programs (multi-tracking software, etc)...just bounce to disk, send to the ipod, and walk into the other room. But for real-time programs like supercollider, which is now the bulk of what I do, there really isn't a "bounce to disk" option and I would need to go directly from the computer to the stereo. If the later post is correct and it can be seen as an audio device by the finder/other programs, I'll be placing an order tomorrow.
