This is an absolute blessing on future generations. I don't usually get so excited but I sort of had a dream like this.
It's a match made in heaven. In the future, bored shitless elders - with aeons of wisdom and humility, virtually incarnated as the little angel/demon sitting on the shoulder of their penultimate biological successor as their own vessel prepares to depart. Helping with math, watching out for cars, that sort of thing.
The young in turn are turned on to the awesomeness of wisdom, experience, and respect at a crucial age, before high school destroys their morals.
It's very Being John Malkovich, it's very comforting. Yay. Maybe we can save this world and become kick-ass people, everyone of us. Let's go guys.
Games like Battle Mines, that are personally maintained by geniuses and force you to slow down and play at a certain rate kick ass for intelligent players with a sense of community!
Arrr, 'tis International Talk Like A Pirate Day! What a fell blow to pirates everywhere! Let's keel-haul the negative vibes by keepin' the parlance circa 1700's, me hearties!
Why does everything have to be profitable? Are we not yet in an era where tools are justified by their usefulness to mankind, not how much wealthier they can make an already wealthy man?
Wake me up in another 50 years, if there's still anything here worth hanging around for.. zzz
Now they need to stick some people in the boats, wave the concentrated sunlight on some hair and skin (not just wood,) see how it affects the real combat situation.

I think the next renaissance won't be nearly as spectacular as the previous ones; I think it's going to have to be a renaissance of the human heart, spirit, and mind. Or we're doomed.
Why, not at all. It's a trivial matter to comment pertinently on this matter, and with few enough bugs that it will be up to Slashdot's standards. However I appear to have left my pen at the grocery store, and as opposed to continuing this comment wish to retrieve it forthwith. Good day.
There's never any shortage of studies being done on intelligence, but an interesting documentary on CBC last night (Tuesday) discussed stupidity and how little we know about it. This is in spite of it supposedly having the third largest impact on the course of human events, behind violence and capital.
What on Earth is the man thinking.. his mind runs something like: "Oh my God, look at them! They're not making any money! Attack!" Another example of what the rampant greed innate to capitalism can do. Pigs.
It's interesting that tobacco companies have gotten away with making money off the misery of people for decades, but spam companies only got away with plying their trade for a few short years before it becomes a less business-effective idea. The turnaround of these things is becoming faster and faster with advanced technology, the system of the human world has better and better controllers to stablize its "plant" (society) with less overshoot and faster settling time..
Yes I just finished studying for a control course. Metaphors good.

My babysitter had a commodore 64 when I was ~5.
I got an Apple II when I was 11, wrote my own code to format the disks so I could create epic Basic games with fat 24x24 or whatever graphics.
Made streetfighting games in programming class.
Mm.. the good old days. Just randomly writing this down before I read other's stories.
I have just noticed my overblown sig but am too lazy to change it.
I don't see any plans.
Internal deterioration is always the least destructive way to dissolve the latest, greatest world empire.
Internal security, the age-cry of the oppressor.
Why not just put heavier taxes on gasoline?
Funny how America is doing such things, while the rest of political world go to some brand of open source.
