"We used our proof-of concept [rootkits] to subvert Windows XP and Linux target systems and implemented four example malicious services," the researchers wrote in a technical paper describing the attack scenario."
This doesn't sound like it's just a Windows problem. Regardless of the operating system, there are flaws, both known and unknown. I'm aware the article mentions that it exploits known security flaws (I wish they would have specified whether these flaws were in the latest patched Windows/Linux distributrions).
I am in partial agreement with you, however...
"That's like suggesting the New York Times and the Washington Post will contain the same sequence of letters and the same punctuation and the same pictures because they both reported on news for the same day."
Remember, DNA doesn't have punctuation, and only conists of 4 characters: G, T, C and A. You're somewhat distorting to picture to support your own view (Upper)26+(Lower)26+(Numeric)10+(Punctuation)?? is quite a different total than 4. Perhaps your math teacher should have been "shot" (that's going a bit far, don't ya think?)
"religious fundamentalists who are hung up on this rediculous idea that science and God are in conflict."
Partial truth. Sure, some of them are, but you also have the OTHER SIDE which feels they're in conflict, although you may not be among that school of thought. There are some people out there who are atheistic/agnostic and feel this way: Liberal christianity makes less sense than fundumentalist orthodoxy (redundancy in action:D), and that members of a faith should believe EVERYTHING their little (or big) book tells them, or otherwise they might as well not bother believing anything.
"And yes, that body of work commonly known as ID is indeed wrong"
Well, it depends how you define "intelligent design". Seems to me a lot of people have this notion that there's only one definition of intelligent design, and it's creationism without evolution at all. I'll admit, I see such a thing as doubtful myself. Perhaps you should have said "Anti-Evolution Creationism".
Yes, there are people who are ignorant to the facts you're aware of regarding Global Warming. I understand why people are leary of it myself, as there have been way too many people crying wolf over the years, and nothing painfully obvious happened (stuff did happen, but was it adaquetly reported in major news outlets? Like good old GE's NBC?) It makes sense to me that you have people quoting sources that are shady. They may see people who talk about Global Warming as nothing more than alarmist nutcases. And you're sure not helping with by implying that they're all anti-democrat rednecks (this alone makes me doubt you even know what a "redneck" actually is, but I bet you don't care either. Who cares if we misuse words? Let's just let the English language go to hell...) I understand your frusteration with this, but it doesn't help to make people angry. It's little things that can affect who gets voted into office and who doesn't. It's smart to be on your best behavior. The Republicans have a "culture of corruption" thing they need to shake off, but don't think for a second you've got an instant victory in the house/senate in 2006.
As someone else here once said: "Each person may have his or her own opinion, and they are rightly entitled to it. However, it is never acceptable to advance an opinion in a spiteful, vicious way."
Please mod this parent up. This doesn't deserve the flamebait moderations it's recieved. Sure, the author of the parent post may have damaged some people's egos a bit, but encouraging today's youth to read well-written literature outweighs the importance of anybodys ego. I can understand the net-speak on cellphones, as it would take forever to send information otherwise. Really though, why is it that someone who tells the truth gets modded 40% flamebait?
I too am sick and tired of seeing "dont" instead of "don't", and "im" instead of "i'm".
This is just another example of Apple's innovation. They're finding new ways to use old words. Just another example of how they're knocking Microsoft off it's feet.

Just some food for thought,
