As a Canadian, I can't believe the methods of jury selection in the US is actually legal. Such as the prosecution and defense get to question potential jurors and know all about them? This just means they try and stack the jury with whatever demographics help get them off. At least in Canada it is way more random and fair.

EXACTLY. An average jury has an education level of about grade 11. While this is fine to judge a lot of petty crimes, when you get into expert witnesses on a murder trial, or anything highly technical its just going to go right over their heads.

Years ago I worked for a Canadian satellite company that was being sued by the US company that bought the satellite. The satellite was damaged in orbit and although still functional beyond the requirements, they tried to sue for the full value of the satellite. The US company fought to have the trial by jury in the US, why? Because they knew the jury would not understand the science and would just rule in favour of the US company against a foreign one regardless of the facts.

Canadians "buy" their health care through higher taxes

For the same level of health care, the cost is much lower in Canada compared to the US. This has been shown to be true many times.

longer waits for life saving procedures and lower standards of care

Complete nonsense. My father needed a pacemaker immediately and got a brand new one, top of the line within about 12 hours of being admitted. In the US this would have cost about $40k, something hew would never have been able to afford. My child was born 10 weeks premature. He had amazing care for 6 weeks he was hospitalized, with a full team of doctors, nurses and various healthcare workers. He will continue to receive checkups until he is around 3. This type of service in the US has cost people hundreds of thousands of dollars, for me all I had to pay was parking. In both cases, we received the best health care available and without wait. The statement you made is a myth thrown about in the US as a fear tactic.

Also for lower standard of care, the vast majority of Americans receive much lower standard of care than we get in Canada, for the simple reason that they cannot afford the best care that is available - the insurance companies will not cover it. Having it available and affording it are two completely different things. I know this as I make medical devices and I know a number of top surgeons. They all say the same thing - yes the US has the best equipment/care in the world, but only the upper elite (say 5% of the population) ever gets to use it when needed. The rest of the population gets the basic stuff which is on average worse than what we get in Canada.

If you doubt this, ask yourself why wealthier Canadians come to the United States for heart surgeries, cancer treatments and other major surgeries when they could, at least in theory, receive the same care for "free" in Canada?

Several reasons. When my son was born premature, there was little room in the hospitals for the level of care he needed. One of the options was being flown to the US for treatment. This would have been covered by our healthcare, except we would be responsible for our own cost of living expenses. (turns out we did not have to do that). Another reason is that some people want specific doctors based on reputation. And if that doctor resides in the US, then they can go pay for it if they want. But in no case is it ever because they would die in Canada waiting in line. That is just sheer nonsense.

This idea is not new and is actually a very good idea.

The concept is that during the day, industry makes huge instantaneous demands off the power grid. This puts a large strain on the grid to prevent brownouts. If there were enough electric cars plugged into the grid during the day, the batteries would be able to absorb some of the spike loads, making the grid much more stable. On the spike load went away (starting a large industrial motor needs a lot more energy than maintaining it), the grid would then replace what it took from the cars.

The electricity grid is actually paying you to use your capacity while your car sits idle. With en enough cars the impact on any one car is negligible.

Sure, because percentages are misleading especially with low numbers of launches. the Biggets Delta has a success percentage of 100% because thye only launched the one time. So you also have to compare experience (the Proton has over 300 launches, far more than anyone else), launch capacity (Proton is the highest) and cost per Kg to launch (Proton is around a third the cost of other countries offerings). Any way you cut it Russia has a better system.

When you're talking about reliability, you want to look at the current state of the art, not some older system which is no longer used

Completely untrue. When evaluating systems NASA has a gauge called Technology Readiness Level (TRL). The only way to score high on this is to have a substantial portion of the design already proven. Tried and true wins out over new technology any day. Do you know what processor is used on the shuttle arms? Its an Intel 80186. Why? Because it works.
