"The car keys aren't such a big deal, because you'd also need the key itself for the mechanical part of the lock."
Not true, one of my cars has a function called "Keyless Go", just have a credit card type device on you and the car unlocks and starts at the press of a button. I am not sure if it using RFID though. No information on that. But it is using a similar technology for sure
It is bad enough that we all live with cell phones. I try hard to be concerned with those around me. I make my living with my cell phone, but that does not give me the right to annoy everyone else. But I have a HUGE pet pieve with the walkie talkie service offered by Nextel and others. Do we really need to hear people shouting at each other like nine year olds in the back yard playing with walkie talkies? Especially when you can use this feature as a regular call and talk into the mouthpeaice and hear it thru the earpeice only. PLEASE...if you have this type of service, do us all a favor and let us NOT hear both sides of the conversation!
Yes it can get better than that. Many, many areas of the country do not broadcast HDTV, and even then...who the hell wants to watch network TV? I want to see my Six Feet Under or Movies or Discovery in HDTV. So when someone finally gets the idea of controlling a sat or cable box AND records HDTV AND ignores the broadcast flag....THEN they will have a TOTAL winner. No matter what OS they support!
I am not affiliated with them, but I recently bought one, and it works great!!! For 150 bucks you can turn any computer into a NAS (network attached storage) and even gain remote access from the internet. And in the next couple of months, you will be able to sync two reBytes remotely thru the internet (now THAT is backup!) PLUS it comes with its own backup software to backup local computers on the network with no client software needed. It is based on Linux and took less than 5 minutes to set up. I bought a brand new computer with 5 drives in RAID 5 configuration for nearly a terrabyte of storage all for less than 1200 bucks.
