ADS-B uses different hardware on board the aircraft and I believe most installations make it difficult to switch off. Its a bit like tail lights in a car. In theory a crook could pull the fuse out but in practice that might create more problems than it solves.
As I understand it the traffic problems in the USA are primarily on a few high traffic routes like New York to Washington. If they invested in high speed rail on those links the congestion problem in the air might not be such an issue.
Second, nobody's been investing in airport infrastructure.
That should be firstly. For all the administration's talk of opening up new airways, we do not have an air shortage. We have a concrete shortage. More routes for the enroute phase of flight just give you a shorter trip from one traffic jam to the next traffic jam, and it's going to stay that way until we get more runways open.

I can see it now. Tomorrow after reviewing google trends Steve Ballmer will send out his goons to either hire this fellow Terwilliger or "buy him out".
Yes they should tattoo POOR IMPULSE CONTROL on the foreheads of violent criminals. Just remember to keep the people thus marked away from nukes, motorbikes and sea kayaks.
the transfer speed they tout is probably the peak transfer speed. But the time it takes to launch a program also depends on factors besides the transfer speed. Like seek time for example.
My eeePc feels much more consistent than a system with a rotating disk.

So do I. In theory.
But let me be clearer: They can't.
Technically impossible with what is currently up there.
It would require its own mission.
I think you are wrong. The velocity relative to the ISS is a few metres per second at the most. Because it got a single impulse it will keep coming back once an orbit. I don't think catching it with the shuttle on this mission is impossible.
The fuel is going to get used or dumped anyway. The bag is being tracked on radar because it is a hazard to space craft. I actually think picking it up is a good idea.
And good practice for when HAL murders the 2IC and the commander has to go out in a space pod to retrieve him.
Bonus points if they get out and in fast enough to do without a helmet.
Supposedly secure equipment has been lost during EVA since the Gemini program. Mike Collins lost a camera which jiggled out of a mount on his pressure suit. Its very hard to avoid this kind of problem.
Once when I was a very young geek I had an array of LEDs set up for some purpose. I accidently added 10V to the power supply due to a lack of attention and bad UI design. Every single LED burst. It smelt horrible and I got out of there fast. Switched off the power supply first though.
I am pretty sure my workplace is trying to pull this off but it includes providing their own versions of certificate providers certs by controlling the client binaries.
What I don't understand is why does Apple even have iTunes as a program. Honestly the most logical way of making an iPod would it would conform to USB mass storage device specs and could use whatever machine (OS X, Linux, Windows, BSD, etc) and have iTunes be a music store along with an optional player where the iTunes store is accessed via a web browser or via the iPod (in the case of the touch). And even then, why does Apple even care about people wanting to use the iPod without iTunes, its a small minority.
Seriously, I don't want to have to 'relate' to my slaves. If I have to relate to my remote control to use it, I'll order a new one and change the channels by hand until it arrives. My god, if they stick me in a home when I'm old and give me a friend-in-a-box that I have to relate to, I hope they deliver a noose along with it.
Oh come on. He's your plastic pal who's fun to be with. Get with the program. Hey, what are you doing with that rope...
Does it have spare passenger capacity? If so why do so many people fly?

assign you a 4-digit "Squawk" code (Say, 1234)
Note thats a four digit octal code, twelve bits.
Also ADSB uses a mode S 24 bit code so it doesn't have to be allocated on the fly like 12 bit codes for mode A.

Er, like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acela_Express ?
Its average speed (140 km/h) is too slow to compete with air travel.

Somehow I don't see the LHC fitting into a Deorean, and the car being drivable afterwards.

Just don't forget the passphrase at the wrong moment.

Zodiac is worth reading as well.
I like to read something for half an hour or so before going to sleep. Anathaem sounds like great value when priced per kilo, or year of reading.
I think I convinced a 14 pin TTL package to explode once but it blew out through the belly and just made a scorch mark on the PCB.
OTH seeing that you were using a breadboard maybe it took off under rocket power. Hmm that gets me thinking. 555s are pretty cheap you know.

I suppose something of this incident will go down in history and become the origin of some common expression like Murphy's Law in the distant future.
They hubbled it up!
It took me a while before I figured out how to spot proper components that kept the magic smoke inside.
Yeah I tried resistors for that but they often became Smoke Emitting Resistors too.

It is more profitable to be a monopolist.
My sister in law got Safari with iTunes. She didn't ask for it either.
There is a shortage of dogs and cats?
C'mon. Real seal pups are a pain to take care of.
