Makes me wonder if commercial aircraft should carry a fireproof container for this situation. Drop the burning phone in a box and squirt in dry powder from an extinguisher.
Wouldn't it be easier just to throw it out the nearest window?
I'd recommend putting out the fire with one of the extinguishers in the clearly marked overhead lockers before pumping out pure oxygen into the cabin, though
IIRC Mythbusters tested hair dryers in a bath to see how fatal they could be. The answer was not much. At one point they had a mains powered dryer motoring around in a bath, entirely immersed without triggering a breaker or an RCD.

Yeah its in that other country. The one with the queen and the clock. I voted for the Australian republic the last time it came up and I will probably do so again but one problem is that the same change has to happen in all states as well as the federal government otherwise you are left with a horrible mess.
I am inspired by the idea of fractal robots. Basically you mass produce robotic building materials and broadcast plans for structures to them. Doors and windows could be created in a building as required by the building materials. As the technology matures the robots may acquire intelligence. I imagine a future where lonely swarms of bricks roam the countryside looking for sleeping homeless humans to build houses around.
I stuck my hand up and pointed out that the increase in entropy on the sun more than offsets any decrease in entropy on the earth, and if the sun went out, life in earth would die and entropy would go on as expected. He agreed with me and said it depends on what you believe. He knew he was talking crap but he had to do it for some reason. He was otherwise a very smart guy.
I had a physics lecturer who insisted that the second law of thermodynamics proves that evolution is impossible. It didn't seem to bother him that it is inconsistent with the existence of god.
Nemeth admitted that by using malware sent via email to specific employees at Marriott, he was able install malware on Marriott’s systems, giving him “backdoor” access to Marriott company information.
Geez the guy is actually quite talented. The problem is picking your targets and your customers. Hotels aren't going to give a stuff about their "internal documents" bur actresses with home made porn on their systems will, as will a few large corporations. He should have gone solo and kept his head down.
As I said: there are dialogs in unity which have been copied pixel for pixel from OSX. The dash behaves identically to the OSX dock. The designers are clearly aiming for OSX.
Let me put it this way: when the Gnome team introduced marketing videos for the new Unity interface, the speakers wore black sweaters and talked with their hands while standing in front of stark white backgrounds. I am not making this up. They really and genuinely are trying to do everything like Apple.
Yeah, Unity is basically OSX with the dock on the left side of the screen. The control panel works identically to the OSX control panel. The shutdown dialog is identical.
Or they just talk crap to your face. Once I addressed latency issues on a communication line with IT. They proposed compressing the link to improve latency. When I pointed out the flaw in their argument they proposed putting a second compression appliance in series with the first one.
IME, help desks are staffed by people who can barely speak English and follow a script. "You want to run foxfire?"
My biggest gripe with the helpless desk where I work is their obsession with remote desktop access. I have had them take over my desktop without any communication at all. Just suddenly the mouse is flying off doing other stuff while I am working. Or if I call them with a simple problem, tell them exactly what I see, they insist on logging in and seeing it for themselves.
I thought that was Siri.
Bowel movements
Twitter has that covered.

Not if pressurized.

Yes, I am sure Gus Grissom would agree with that.
I don't want to start a "TSA is a bunch of idiots" thread but I'm honestly surprised that this hasn't happened more often.
I somehow doubt the TSA was involved in any way, shape, or form for a domestic Australian flight. At all... call it a hunch.
We have our own version.

At last: a realistic estimate!
I think it's sheer stupidity to not have that kind of structure built by humans.
The whole point is to build it with robots.

If you make thousands of them the price shouldn't be that far off. Your helicopters now only have to lift themselves, once.
I wonder if it would have been cheaper to make every component a flying robot and just have them assemble themselves.

Or whether they would prefer their son/daughter to marry a good looking girl/boy.

Ah now I want to read Quarantine again. The randomness is still there from my POV because I can't perceive the multiverse.
I wonder if they also object to quantum mechanics?

Thats the difference between democracies and monarchies. Its not specifically a difference between Thailand and everywhere else.
Australian here. If I went to the US as a tourist and went around threatening the President I would expect Bad Things to happen to me.
