I have to disappoint you. While it isn't exactly a tax, there is charge on media and copying devices like cd recorders, but it is transfered directly to a fund which then destributes it to the artists.
The sad thing is, this charge was introduced specifically so that law enforcement wouldn't have to deal with copying too much and that strict laws wouldn't be even necessary. Right now they are discussing much stricter laws (making even private copying illegal), a higher charge on media (up to 5%) AND they are busting people in their homes anyway.
Germanys law enforcmement agencies have in fact large departments dediceted to shut down child porn and the like. And I am sure they know quite well who the real criminals are.
However, if they get a legal complaint from a copyright holder, they simply have to investigate.
Copying for private use neither a criminal nor a civil offense in Germany, as long as the source is not an evidently illegal one (ie a movie before its released on DVD - or filesharing).
Copying from an illegal source is a civil offense. So law enforcement still isn't involved at all. However, distributing copyrighted material is a criminal offense (up to 3 years in prison). And since one can't really download without uploading, law enforcement must investigate any complaint by the copyright holders.
What the attorny said was that "they expect to find all kinds of material, ranging from music to child pornography".
The server also wasn't run by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), but was monitored by them with a "custom developed software". Also, the operation of an edonkey server is legal in Germany.
Plus, their applications written in ABAP, their own language, are delivered in plain source code. Which may not be OSS by license, but still in the sense of the word.
And one word on the incredible amounts of $$$ they charge: Actually, neither Oracle nor Microsoft nor IBM are anywhere cheaper.
So far I thought Agassi knew more about technology... But he seems really anti-OSS anyway, now that I come to think about it. He also changed SAP's web-oriented UI-strategy to web + MM-Flash and integration into MS Office.
I'd even say, the easiest way to get your kids interrested in computers is to restrict access to your computer, just like any non slashdot-reading parents would do.
As for me, I got hooked with a most ugly game called tunneler (at least I think that was the name). It must have been around 1989. My sister and I would use every spare time we were allowed to to go over to my neighbor's to play tunneler in slit screen mode (My parents didn't have a PC until 1995). Since I didn't even know how to start the game, I can't tell the machine/OS but I would guess it run DOS.
I tried to find tunneler on the net last your or so, but gave uo after 3 hours of googling through abandonedware sites.

Absolutily.

Well, in Civ3 simply press "j" with a unit in a stack of units to move the whole stack :-)

I tried this myself in business seminars, definitly works! It's better to have humorous people around, though.
Absolutly right.
