This is available *now* in the UK and as far as I know the rest of Europe. It's really not new technology at all, though I think it was easier for them to implement overseas because they use a lower frequency current. I don't recall who offers it but I'll find it and repost...
Linux is just a kernel. The kernel is the operating system, therefore the operating system is called Linux. Yes, to make it useful, you need several utilities, many made by GNU, and wonderful they are, but that in no way implies that Linux isn't Linux without GNU. While Tom's idea is a bit radical, he makes an excellent point, in the blunt Tom Way. BSD style utilities are not the right idea, that's Bad For Linux. So is GNU/Linux. What's right for Linux is for people to respect it as a collection of the minds of everyone across the world, contributing solely for the cause of making a better mouse trap. This mine is bigger philosophy has got to go.
Despite the belief of the masses, it takes one hell of a lot of resources to scroll. It redraws the screen every scroll, and when you get smooth scrolling, it's even worse. If you have lots of ram, you can let x11amp reserve some, but even that won't fix everything...
While it sounds crazy/sarcastic, I beileve that the perfect punishment for MS should be to GPL their operating system and release the source code. They should still have the entire freedom to develop and pursue it however they chose, as well as develop applications for it which are NOT restricted. This way they can still make billions and billions off of Office, etc, and their monopoly can be totally eliminated.

Intuit hinted at this several months ago, in fact around the same time GNUcash was looking for a new site.
