    At what point are you forced to grant credit? Shall we call it KDE/QT/GNU/Linux? I'd say that anything without which the system would be unusable deserves credit. In general, the distro, GNU, and Linux.

    No it couldn't. The comparable BSD tools have been around longer than the Linux kernel. When Linux was coming out, BSD was in a lot of legal trouble. That's also why Hurd ended up so bad--it was originally going to use a BSD kernel but there were legal troubles. It's also why there are different BSDs.

    (The CIA also has double walls between which they pump white noise so that people can't read the vibrations of the glass with laser meters. The building is magnetically shielded so people can't "read" the monitors of people remotely.) Michael Westen doesn't need all that fancy technology, he can just use a vibrator.

    Because they're worse ideologues than RMS(they believe that propietarians should have the right to fuck you over, and that removing that right is evil) and they could never work on anything that dared to preserve freedom.

    My guess is that he's just considering the camera and the monitor to be the endpoints rather than conversions. Besides, reality and analog encoding aren't the same thing.

    Using self, or something like it, is a requirement for having a dynamic class-based OOP system. C++ can get away with avoiding it most of the time by requiring variable declarations. Python will and should never do that. Ruby uses at-signs which have much of the same purpose as self in Python.

    Python will support indentions of any length as long as they're there and they're consistent. (Tabs are 8 spaces, as god indented. Er, as God intended.) And if you don't indent at all you're a fucking idiot, I don't care who you are.

    Yeah, Self was quite fast due to heavy, heavy optimization. I'd say that Python doesn't do enough dynamism and that is what is making those sorts of optimizations hard. Too many special cases.

    Interestingly, the syntax it uses was something I liked about it. It felt a lot less kludgy than having print/println, and it has the most common use as the simplest.
