    doesn't really matter, all that piracy shakedown stuff is coming to a close a prenda is being brought front and center for those specific activities. There are very, very wide implications for what is going on that will probably stop a large amount of the "piracy settlement" firms.

    uh, no. businesses make money by providing value which customers then pay for. that doesn't mean artificially scarce resources, which aren't truly scarce. This will however, break a ton of shit very quickly.

    uh, what?

    desktop and tablet/smartphone are not the same market, at all. one can have a desktop for a variety of reasons, and a tablet as well. There's nothing that says one is exclusive of the other. What also shares the market of the tablet/smartphone is the netbook, which is basically going away aside from the ultrabooks which are trying to separate from the netbook market but coming up against the desktop market to some degree.

    yeah sorry, but if you think apple is the one being cited by gartner and being used in enterprise exclusively in some fantasy situation, you're fairly mistaken.

    it's pretty much android/apple/windows/solaris/unix, which is pretty much the same as it's been............ever.

    don't expect that to change, probably ever.

    it's a "begging the question" troll, so I hope it's not a surprise that a headline based on a flawed premise results in a flawed response.

    Google glass may fail, or take off. It's a bit early to know for sure, but considering these random anonymous first time submitted with all the google glass gloom it's clear that there are no facts abound. It's all hypotheticals and is thankfully debunked by a comment with over 1800 upvotes on wired.

    maybe you should see how often they win lawsuits, and how they are making money hand over fist quarter over quarter. Google doesn't mess around.

    Let me tell you who isn't doing any of the above (as in success):

    the entire group that is colluding against google, aka oracle/ms/apple, among others.

    You can almost pinpoint their exact downfall to the moments with which they declared google an enemy and stopped investing in new technologies.

    I wouldn't worry too long. With the amounts of money MS is losing (and the evidence they build against themselves for antitrust), they won't last very long at this rate, with investigations underway. Continuing to push for patent settlements at the same time as antitrust investigations into patent trolling is probably the worst decision to possibly make.

    Except there's no basis in facts here. The judge has done something no court has *EVER* done. They basically legislated what people do via normal bargaining.

    Don't expect this to hold water for even a second once it gets appealed. There's no basis for such a decision. I'd be willing to bet any amount of money on that.

    Meanwhile, we have an article from Florian Mueller about a flawed premise: Microsoft's competitors. What else is there to say when you're quoting a fraudulent man paid for by Microsoft? I would get more factual information from MS asking them their opinion of Google. At least that'd be honest.
