    I actually RTFA (I know... shocker).  My favorite part was:
    "Many of the problems in KDE 4.0 can and will be fixed by the KDE hackers."

    It's nice to see when organizations view hacking in a positive light.  Its like the old gun control argument.  Hackers don't hose your system, script kiddies do.

    Yeah? Mine works beautifully too! Even on Windows 16 alpha 3 (codename: Vapor) with an AMD Giga Core 63.1 THz and 72 PB of ram!

    I have used Xaraya for years on several sites I admin. Yes it has a severe learning curve which would eliminate about 70% windows users, 90% mac users but only 10% linux users... => Seriously though, I do use it, and fully agree it is extremely customizable and will build just about anything you can dream up. Comparing Xaraya to Drupal or Joomla would be like comparing Gentoo to Ubuntu...

    KDE predates OSX and that Vista thing, As if there are things that don't predate that Vista thing... Ok, I guess there's the requirement for obscene amounts of storage (both in Memory and Hard Disk) just for the operating system. It seems that whenever Micro$haft announces a new release, you pretty much need to take the top system requirements of today and double them just to meet the new minimum requirements. (Boy, the memory manufacturers must love them...) However, to stay on topic, KDE is making significant strides, and I prefer the look of KDE 3 or 4 to that stupid foot thingy...

    Having worked for Micro$oft, you need to realize how long it takes them to get anything accomplished. They make the US government look spontaneous! They may have had the idea 2 years ago, but by the time they had more than 2 people agree on it, its 2 years later... Look how long it takes them to get a service pack out........still waiting..... August 18th won't get here soon enough for XPSP2.
