I can tell you from personal experience that lots of MS personnel run competitor OSes -- it's just not the official company line (for obvious reasons). Hell, they even have employees that talk/act like regular Linux disciples.
As for using Windows under an account with reduced permissions: if you've ever tried it, you'd understand why nobody really does it. A columnist at winnetmag.com tried it for a few weeks, and entitled his first column "Oh, The Pain..."
That should tell you something.
We have a dual p4 server, the damn thing sounds like a gas turbine when it's on. Really, I've used quieter air compressors.
...and I've worked with numerous P4 servers that were whisper quiet -- so what's your point?
Oh, and I think all those dual-P4 servers were bought for about the same amount as one of your dual-G5s.
Now if he (or someone) can devise an algorithm to identify the important part of each picture and then actually make a mosaic of those (sans alpha)... that could be sorta cool. Sorta.
