  1. This one on In America, 46% of People Hold a Creationist View of Human Origins · · Score: 1

    Is a 46-Percenter.

  2. RMVB maybe not very good on Mozilla Partners with Real Networks · · Score: 1

Maybe its just a bad encode, but i got an hour long asian tv show that is done in RMVB, and its 180MB's, and its horrid! Its choppy and blurry and yucky looking. Seriously an xvid at half the size would look/play much smoother and better. If this is a valid example of Real codeds, they just need to go out of business. I am just glad xvid exists. Thats my codec of choice.

  3. Re:This was bound to happen. on Wal-mart's Wikipedia War · · Score: 1

    "middle-class white Americans?"

Have you tried watching stuff geared towards working class blacks? It's even worse, if such a thing is possible! (Where's red foxx when you need him??)

And I can't understand the shows the clerks watch in the Groceria I buy cheap cigs at, but they just as stupid to me.

Face it, people, when given the choice between eating steak, and eating shit, always prefer shit.

  4. Rockbox is in a state of rewrite atm on Improve Your iPod with Rockbox · · Score: 1

LostLogic is rewriting the core playback functions right now, so daily's might, (WILL) be buggy.

And it is not yet fully optimized for the ipod hardware.

Having said that, I love it, and I gladly put up with the crashes and lockups rather than have to deal with the limiting, yet (barely) functional apple os.

I hate Itunes Windows with a passion. And using amarok to import my music is tolerable, but not optimal.

Now I can just drop and drag, and almost all my music plays, regardless of format.

Seriously, the Ipod is overrated. Next time I am getting a Cowon Iaudio X5 or maybe an A2. Opensource firmware from the korean manufacturer for the A2....

So if Rockbox is buggy, give it a couple months and try again, they are working on it daily. It is in very active development.

  5. The NYT has no room to talk..... on When A Blogger Meets Public Relations · · Score: 1

Wasn't it the NYT which during the run up to the US invasion of Iraq was basically reprinting verbatim rumours and lies spoonn fed them by the neocons in the Bush Administration?

This is just a double-header for these guys, a chance to attack 2 enemies at once, bloggers, and Walmart.

They don't like bloggers for the obvious reasons, and they don't like Walmart for at least 2: Cause the NYT is both neocon, and old-guard liberal, with sympathies to the anti-china crowd (where Walmart does most of its procuring) and the labor unions, which hate Walmart for the obvious reasons.

  6. You want to see the internet destroyed? on Municipal Broadband Projects Spread Across U.S. · · Score: 1

I read people saying this is so great and all, but they should stop and think about it for a second. The problem with communications lies at the FCC, this is why the evil greedy communications giants are ALBE to be evil greedy and stupid and still be around for so long.

The FCC , and Gov't in general, is nothing more than a public face to a cartel of elites who throw a few bones to the populists out there and blather on about the needs of the communities while they raise the barrier of entry thru regulation so high that in the end, only mega bucks players can compete.

A perfect relevant example is VOIP being but on hold, obstensibly for 911, but really to raise the hurdles of entry and to allow the moribund elites to repackage their old school programs with a new buzzword.

REAL community broadband, started and maintained by volunteers, would be an awesome thing, but the local Gov't directly owning your internet connection?

Thats wrong on so many levels.

And the gov't doing something is not competition, its a naked take over, which in this country, they prefer to merely leech off the elites that they ride like fleas
