You've misunderstood something here. It's not illegal for said 13 or 14 year old to *play* the game; they're just not allowed to buy it for themselves.
Gf reporting in... and yeah, WoW really does blow EQ right out of the water. I played EQ last night for the first time since the WoW open beta started, and man, did I ever notice the differences. SOE has screwed up so many things with EQ that I will never play one of their games again, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way - there are a *lot* of disgruntled people in EQ, and WoW is going to give them a viable alternative.
If I hadn't made the open beta for WoW, I probably would have kept playing EQ, as I'm horribly averse to the idea of putting out mucho bucks for a game without being able to try it out first. But since I did, and enjoyed it immensely, I'm probably not going to be in EQ much longer. It's really not all that much fun anymore. And soon I will have a *far* more enjoyable way to waste my time.....
While there may be some non-US content available, the original announcement states quite clearly that/. will be "running special political coverage between now and the election in our new Politics subsection...." That, combined with the ubiquitous presence of the US flag, leaves me with the distinct impression that US politics will be its primary focus. I can't say that makes me terribly inclined to spend more time here than I already do... although I might post a little more:P
