The DVD remote was just a way to make sure Sony didn't get money off of every xbox sold. Sony and some other companies get royalties off every dvd capable device, so MS made it an addon (even though the system was still technically capable of playing dvd's, since it didn't have the remote it wouldn't, so no money for Sony) this way people that wanted the feature would get the addon, and 10$ or whatever would go towards Sony from the remote's price. That's why the playstation line has dvd out of the box. Stupid Sony/other evil media companies. Same thing for the x360 I bet, and same thing for the Nintendo Revolution (as confirmed by Iwata)
What does he say is the successor to cd audio? Napster, iPod and MSN Music. Wait, he spelt iTunes wrong. Does anyone actually use MSN Music?
Ignoring that, cd sales haven't dipped AFAIK, I sure as hell still buy them. I like having the cd covers. the case, the whole "physical" cd. I use p2p to find music I like, and if there's only one song on the album I like, I keep it (not like I'd buy the album anyway)
MSN Music the successor to cd audio? My ass. If he had've said iTunes that would've made slightly more sense, but still, no.
You must be new here. Er wait your UID is lower than mine...
It happens in spurts, as far as I've noticed. Ever get the "nothign to see here" pages? Same sort of deal.
I don't think it's the/. effect taking its toll on slashdot though, just bugs in slashcode. OSDN has buttloads of bandwidth and cpu power, point in case: sourceforge.
If you have a bug that you can better identify, not the 503 errors, report it on the slashcode site.
In other news, alot of people bought the game, so that doesn't matter. I saw it used at EB games for 10$ the other day. Get off your ass and shell out, jeez.
5MB of code.... in a zip. Thats like 30mb of code. Also, the code to the engine is alot more complicated then what you do at work (well, at least the odds are it is) and thats why Carmack is a millionaire and builds rockets for fun.
Chances that UE3 will be GPL'd: 0 Chances that Doom3 will eventually be open source (minus that code they had to license or something): 1
Carmack kics Sweeney's ass. By the way, doom3 etc was designed for - you guessed it - doom3, while UE3 is designed to be used as an engine for lots of games, so its not a fair comparision. But hey, if we're going to throw around numbers, how bout you take a guess at how many games have used the Quake engines? It's pretty damn high.
p.s. Ubisoft using your engine isn't exactly a selling point. Most of their games are shit tastical. Maybe if they're not coding the engine they'll be able to focus on not sucking, maybe.
In other news, NTP has been renamed to NMoCECAACUStRRooPATSP (network measurments of change eveents compared against arbitrarily chosen units specificaly the retoation/revolution of our planet around the sun protocol.
According to your argument, distance also doesn't exist. In fact I bet you could use your argument to prove that nothing really exists.
Why create stronger algorithms if no one is going to break them? I'd rather the NSA found the exploits and told the right people, or the world, then somebody with bad intent.
Wow, you've been reading to much sci-fi. Lay off the crack.
If there are factions, its just a bunch of 14year windows users that prefix their IRC nick with their clan name , e.g. [VWF]h4x0r is a member of [V]irus [W]riters [F]orever. They can't offer you an "expert protectionism", whatever the fuck that is, because they're too dumb. Have you seen the code to some of these things? Crap.
Again, there isn't any "viral factions", you need to unsubscribe to the space channel, any MMORPG's or other online games you own, burn your scifi books and get some fresh air.
Yeah, best thing to happen to Microsoft, it's not like Apples market share has been increasing lately as the volume of spyware, viruses and worms increase.

The rights granted herein are limited to Apple's and its licensors' intellectual property rights in the Apple Software and do not include any other patents or intellectual property rights. A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time.
Things on your window aren't projected onto it, you see through your window. If you took a projector and projected something onto your window, if you squinted your eyes to look at the picture which wouldn't show up well (being a window and all) you would see you get the same effect as a computer moniter
No. It's different with software. You don't "own" your copy of the OSX software. You own the physical cd's or dvd that it comes on. If you don't agree to the license, then you don't have the right to use it, because Apple own's it. The license gives you the permision to use it. It's like the GPL. You could download the code, but if you don't obey by the GPL, than your basically stealing source code just as much as taking source code from micrsoft and using would be. So, basically, if you don't follow their terms then you have no legal right to use their stuff, because it's their property. It's opposite the way everyday normal contracts work. Whereas one takes away certain freedoms, one gives you some where you normally would have none.

I prefer pepper.
I'd feel 21% dumb.
Too bad xplay has the most horrible acting ever. Seriously, G4 killed TTV.

It's everything you need to compile all of quake 3 arena, except obviously the datafiles. All the code, physics AI etc.
Someone could turn it into a word proccessing app if they wanted to. Depends on how much effort your willing to spend, and how good at coding you are.

try DS, not GBA, unless you want sidescrolling Q3A

AOL dude went to jail, big fucking deal. You probably worded your summary badly, considering you're a big enough loser to bitch about it afterwards.
dude it was a joke. laugh.

It's because the losers that write these things run Windows, and they don't update their systems regularly :) Don't wanna destroy your own stuff.

Straight from the EULA

Nah, your just too slow. Look a little faster.
Jokes aside, I like how you just know these things, your a scientist right? Note the multiple trials where they rearranged the order of the pictures.
Personally, that picture of the hand stuck in my mind longer than the rest, while the ones of trees seemed to go by faster. Meh.

You don't "own" software, you just own the physical cd/dvd, so if you don't agree to or bypass the EULA, then you're not allowed to use it.
