What amazes me about the images are that many are taken from peoples back gardens using relatively inexpensive equipment. The results are also in reach of most ordinary people, if your interested in advice on getting started with astronomy or even how to get results such as these then one of the contributes to the images in the book frequents this forum: http://stargazerslounge.co.uk/ and along with many others can offer you great advice, just like they have me.
I wonder how much more profits the music industry would make if they just sacked all of their lawyers?
I mean seriously, are they kidding us with this rubbish all the time? The last album I brough was because the artists website had a free animation of the song that you could watch, I then searched for the lyrics to my favourite song of theirs, enjoyed both items so much I brought the album. Do they really not have a clue how their own industry works?
If all of the emails are stored in an imap account then you could access this programatically using PHP's Imap functions. I do the same thing using a cron job to check an email account every 5 minutes on my site, if theres a new mail it looks to see if it has an image attachment and if it has automatically posts it online for me.
I disagree with what your saying here, I mean, when you download Shareware that is feature limited, maybe only letting you save 100kb of a file instead of it all, you know this is what your getting, you know you have to pay more to unlock more features. It's exactly the same in this case, just because you have the extra programs and features on your installation media, doesn't mean you've payed for the right to use them.
If everyone expected these extra features to come as standard then XP would cost even more than it does already.
It's a very powerful set of php libraries which make it very easy to get graphs exactly how you want them, http://www.aditus.nu/jpgraph/. I've used it in a number of situations and found it extremely fast and easy to use with really professional results.
Is there no computer related work you do as a hobby? For example work on open source projects etc... If there is then you could use this as evidence. Perhaps whilst job hunting you could work on a small project just to show your capabilities.
Also, surely a company would understand this situation and be sympathetic? Especially if they have a similar N.D.A?
Another point to consider, surely just detailing the projects you've worked on, what you did and how you did it could be enough evidence of your capabilities without actually showing them the code you made. Plus I'm sure you can display qualities to them such as your ability to work in a team etc... which are just as if not more important than the code you create, so if you appear strong in these areas and explain why you can't show past work then you could still be in the running for the job.
Just my tuppence,

This explains why some people I know entering a google seo competition aren't having any luck with the google images part of the competition! Does anybody have any ideas/news/links to information so we have an idea if it is likely to be updated anytime soon? Also, does anyone know if its all images or if images from news sources get updated more regulary?
Whichever Way, Penguin Have Won Now Though...

There are two ways this can end, Firstly Penguin give in and drop the whole shebang, they lost nothing and gain a whole heap of free publicity. This story is circulating the Internet as we speak and It's going to make people remember this book title, and I gurantee a good number of people will go out and buy this book now.
The other ending is that Penguin get the Domain, either legally which is highly doughtful or by buying it from the rightful owner. This means they still get all that juicy publicity and the domain name.
As my old media teacher always said, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Information about PHP's Imap functions can be found at http://uk.php.net/imap.
I'm not entirely sure if this is the kind've thing you are looking for, but this is probably how I would deal with the problem.

Wow, this looked really awesome! Much more realistic than the Honda one (Which was still pretty cool) in my opinion.
