"I'm not a billionaire, but..." I'm not a billionaire, so I don't care what happens to them. "I don't have a uterus, but..." I have a body, and I support a person's choice how to treat their own body. "I'm not gay, but..." I can make choices, so I support a person's choice. "I'll never be under-age again, but..." Haha! You're old! (me too, but meh. Get off my lawn and I'll get off yours.)
Stop telling people what they should value. Either they're smart enough to figure it out, or your high-and-mighty attitude is going to antagonize them into the position opposite of yours. Or they just won't change because they just don't care.
If you're going to play semantics, "Mass Destruction" is not equivalent to "Mass Murder". Hell, you don't even need 1 dead person for destruction to happen.
Something tells me the US Military is well aware of what they drop on people and what they were accusing Saddam Hussein of possessing. It wasn't merely that he was alleged to have them, but that he was alleged to have them in contravention of some treaty, wasn't it? The issue wasn't about the items, but about the treaty or punishment or whatever not being followed.
I expect to see this opinion in more than a few posts on this thread, yet I'm surprised.
I just can't imagine how spending one's time "tweeting" or maintaining a Facebook page has much to do with what kind of employee I want, unless perhaps those "tweets" particularly socially unacceptable.
Two words: Technological familiarity. Just because a person managed to get a degree and some experience doesn't mean they are good at what they do. Using more "tech" shows greater ability to adapt and learn. To a strong degree, it can also be a stronger indicator of personality traits which may help the job and also show those traits which could hurt the job. After all, someone who tweets and posts pictures about getting hammered at work (or any other imaginable bad practices) probably isn't the applicant you're looking for. It's not mentioned in the summary what kind of engineering position the submitter is looking for, so this is the best I can guess.
Right. Because Sony would neeeever do something like change restrictions on their software after point-of-sale. *coughother-oscoughps2-game-compatibilitycough* Damn. I think i need to see a doctor.
Godwin's law says nothing of the validity of an argument--merely that the longer a debate rages, the more likely one side is to compare the other to Nazis or Hitler.
It's not the preferring the same gender that is the problem in Christianity; it's the sex-making act. Incidentally, that act is also forbidden to be practiced by any heterosexual couple unless they have been married (some more restrictions may apply; consult your local repressive representative for details).
I'm curious. Who put VLC on the Apple App Store? Was it not the other developers or some subset of them? So when the developers lack concensus, Apple is to blame? This is interesting. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Why does being at home guarentee productivity? From the comments, a lot of people appear to believe being in the office is less productive than being at home, but at least with a VPN, it can be measured how much data is being sent to and recieved from the telecomuters. I doubt a former Google exec would make a decision like this lightly.
So you'll find that you're old phones are now updated to versions of applications they cannot run.
This is wholly untrue. I was using an iPhone 3G up until last week and when I tried to update any app, I was told "Requires iOS 4.3 or higher" and the update failed. I was left with all of my apps able to run on my old phone as they were before iOS 4.3 was released.
More market, more profit. Not even accounting for the fact that developers make more from Apple App Store listings than they do from Google Play listings, why would you limit your market-size for the sake of $8-$9 per month? That's just stupid.
There was a time, not too long ago, that anybody who graduated high school had all the requisite knowledge and skill to actually do almost any job, even start and run their own business, like Microsoft.
This is just stupid. There are still kids fresh out of high school with the ability to start their own companies. There are kids who haven't even finished high school who are taking masters-level courses (I am friends with one). Making the assertion that anyone is capable of starting and continuing a successful business just because they had one thing in common with Bill Gates doesn't mean they had everything else necessary to be as successful as Bill Gates.
Some kids have the knowledge and ability. Most didn't care enough to develop those skills, instead relying on sports or the promise of the benefits of post-sec education or maybe not even relying on anything to help them along, just coasting through because they don't see the benefits.
I *am* an iPhone 3G (not S) owner (Meaning: owner). I've always kept up on the updates to the OS, and I've never had any problems with any version slowing my phone down or causing instability or other problems (except that one time when Facebook decided to crash every time I loaded the app, so I visited the mobile website in Safari instead). It stopped updating at 4.2, but whatever. I can't install anything newer than that (and I mean it doesn't LET me), so I have to wonder, who are these people who installed iOS 5 and iOS 6 on their iPhone 3G? My buddy with a 3GS got those, but I didn't.
If you're going to be on about how acronym pronunciation does or doesn't work, then "GIF" would never be a word. When reading the written text, you always pronounce the elongated form of the acronym. "The GIF file is in the FS on the HDD" should be orated as "The Graphics Interchange Format file is in the File System on the Hard Disk Drive."
Strictly speaking, we aren't talking about pronouncing an acronym; we're talking about pronouncing a new word derived from an acronym in which case you would be right to claim pronounciation is different from the etymology.
The Earth is a lot more complex than a snow globe. There are a lot of scientists who wouldn't be sure, given similar complexity, that all the flakes would rest on the bottom of the snow globe after 5 minutes.
That's like saying engineers predicted increased taxes on the manufacturing sector will lead to greater defects in cars due to lower-quality, cheaper product being used, then pointing at the Fisker Karma and saying "See! I told you so!"
Except he wouldn't be because all of his peers would be trying to get out of jury duty. He'd be tried by responsible and probably more intelligent people. He'd be fucked.
Tell me: Are you allowed to stand butt-naked in front of an open window in a ground-level house across the street from an elementary school? The answer is obviously "No." What can be seen from public grounds can be considered "public viewing."

Succesful games will be cloned by Apple, removing the original from the appstore.
Really? Apple cloned Angry Birds?! Where can I get my Apple-branded Angry Birds? Quick! Before it becomes cool!

Wouldn't the Pope prefer UNIX, then? The Distro from which the many forks of Linux were forked?

It isn't a "can't-think-outside-the-proverbial-box" problem. It's a "3D-brings-nothing-we-care-about" problem. Get over yourself.

Or is this too pedantic?

And this is exactly why modded boxes should be banned from XBox Live.
I believe they call that "DVD Boxed Sets"
