When I read that those bulbs last for years and are extremely efficient, I decided to be enviro friendly and save a few bucks over time so I replaced about half the bulbs in my house (the other bulbs are similar to the clear vanity mirror bulbs). But, the blue glow and the dimness kills me. The one on my porch looks pitiful compared to the old bulb and the one in the garage provides about as much light as the moon.
This fall, I had to replace the hard drive on my emachines. That means there was no restore partition and the system restore cd had been misplaced long ago. I called support and they couldn't fathom why the restore partition was gone. I don't find stupidity all that amusing. So, I switched to Ubuntu linux and haven't looked back. Otherwise, the box quietly runs 24/7.
Our educational system isn't designed for learning, per se, but to train kids to be proper working adults, and to make sure they know how life "really works" in our culture.
And why is this a bad thing? Don't we want our children to be intelligent proper working adults that live long and fulfilling lives vs savants that can solve a Millenium Problem but can't cope in our society and begs for change while resenting the rest of us for not "seeing the light"?
Isn't that the equivalent of saying all a novelist does is repeat phrases?... the dog, the man...
I think there's a bit more to programming than just repetition.
