How does your binary worldview integrate Iran's endorsement of Bush?
It integrates it by getting news that isn't solely based on what the AP reports. Like that super conservative AFP! The AP left out the most important quote of the "interview". When read together with the other quotes the Iranian official is clearly stating that for them it really doesn't matter.
TEHRAN, Oct 19 (AFP) - It makes no real difference to Iran whether US President George W. Bush or Democrat contender John Kerry wins the presidential elections, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.
"It makes no difference for us which of the two parties wins the elections," Iran's top national security official Hassan Rowhani said in an interview on state television.
Along with every other goddamn senator, including the ones you voted for. Don't be a deceptive ass.
Actually, the senators I voted for were not elected and therefore not in the Senate. So, good call, sport! You realize that senators are elected, right? And it's possible to have two senators neither of which you support? See Massachusetts for a perfect example.
And even if they had been elected and still voted for it... what would your point have been? That people I supported also voted for it? And that would have affected Kerry playing both sides of another issue? He's trying to be everyone's candidate on every issue.
Also, your sig makes you look like an idiot. Arafat likes Kerry, so that's a reason to vote against him? What if Arafat said he liked Bush? Guess you'd have to vote for Kerry, then, huh?
Did I say that's a reason to vote for or against him? I just stated a fact. You remind me of the people who attacked a man for simply putting out advertising that said "Support Gay marriage? Vote Democrat." without any statement of party affiliation or purpose. Arafat preferring Kerry is just another reason to not vote for Kerry.
Here's a hint: if you do the opposite of whatever the bad guys say, they still control you absolutely -- they just say the opposite of what they really want, and you happily do their bidding.
Oh, how clever you are! You've made me see the truth! You are so insightful! I'm just being played by Arafat! Oh man, what a fool I was. Yes, I was just doing the bad guys' bidding!
Give it a rest.
Good day, dimwit. I think I will have a good day. I wish you a happy week, because next week is going to be difficult for you.
He's not for invading Iraq to fight terrorism, though Bush has made that popular.
Yes, had Kerry been in power Hussein would still be in power and most likely close to getting rid of the UN Sanctions against him. That's a powerful platform to run on.
He's not for giving away our Treasury to rich people, though Bush has made that seem popular.
The top 50% pay ~99% of the tax. The top 20% pay 80%. So, strangely, when tax cuts are taken across the board, the people who make the most, get the most back. The "rich" still have the highest tax bracket.
He's not for promoting faith over science or democracy, though Bush throws that to the religious zealots who form his base.
Well, I'm a Catholic (much like your beloved Kerry, although by most definitions he is not a Catholic). The vast majority of citizens in the US disagree with Kerry's positions on partial-birth abortion and public funding for abortions. Bush has not banned stem cell research. There is (minimal) federal funding available for it. And, if there is such an amazing array of medical miracles that can achieved via research in this field, then all the major medical companies will surely see it in their best interests to fund said research.
Do you want some stem cells that qualify for federal funding? Simply go here.
And let's not get into Edwards little "You shall be healed!" speech. Talk about despicable.
Anyways, you seem like any good little leftist. If an issue is brought up that you can't defend, you just attack on another issue.
So Kerry's (and everyone but one absentee's) vote in the Senate for the DMCA is... unreliable? You sound like Senator Kerry himself. Maybe this one of the bills that Kerry wrote, but didn't have his name on?
Iran did not endorse Bush. Iran stated that they don't care who wins. Your story, like most other ones, were based on the original AP story which left out the most important quote of the whole interview to push the idea that Iran endorsed Bush. The AFP story includes the quote.
Basically the Iranians were stating that while the republicans were more likely to push for military action/pressure against Iran, Democrats also have a history of being against Iran, so it doesn't matter to them who wins. It's a lose-lose situation.
Women undecideds in the next election might want to read the parent posting, and look at the link
Yes, they should definitely look at that link. One of the most deplorable people in this world wants Kerry to be president (no, not Jacque Chirac). As for basing their vote on a slashdot post... come on now. Should I be basing my views on gay black men based on the posts of GNAA?
Yes, folks, this is how your average Republican voter thinks of women
When I was in England I rarely ate at any place that was a chain or would be considered touristy.
And I greatly dislike Indian food (to my wife's great horror). There are some supposedly very good Indian restaurants in my area but it just doesn't do it for me.
And I found the food in Ireland to be far superior.
I was just pointing out a better comparison. London is closer to Moscow than LA is to New York. Boston and New York are roughly the same distance part as London and Manchester.
So is voting for Kerry (as he admitted during his Senate testimony). So, I guess Nader?
And "rejoin" the international community? The same "community" that took billions of dollars worth of bribes and oil vouchers (France, Germany, Russia and China especially) in order to influence public opinion on Iraq (bribes were given to French journalists) and, in the case of France, to guarantee a vote against any type of military action against Iraq? What a great "community" that is.
I write this letter as a citizen of this international community and as a journalist for a newspaper whose name is Pravda (Truth), I have the obligation to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
LOL! Yes, Pravda, the newspaper of "Truth". What a fucking joke.
Last time I was in London I kept heading over to Piccadilly Circus. Why? Because of the (strangely space themed) Burger King.
Other than that... never had such bland food in my life, and this coming from someone who lives in an area dominated by Germans and Scandinavians (mmm, lefse!).
Actually Iran did not. AP chose to pick and choose their quotes to make it seem so. The AFP story includes these quotes: TEHRAN, Oct 19 (AFP) - It makes no real difference to Iran whether US President George W. Bush or Democrat contender John Kerry wins the presidential elections, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.
"It makes no difference for us which of the two parties wins the elections," Iran's top national security official Hassan Rowhani said in an interview on state television.
North Korea chose Kerry as well, actually, as they're excited about bilateral talks.
Pakistan is now a unfavorable country? They've actually been fairly helpful in two ways: their current administration is fighting both Al Qaeda and Taliban reminants in the border region and also fighting against Muslim extremists who wish to turn the country into a Muslim controlled state.
If Scheme fucked you up then you didn't really know anything about programming. Hmm... interesting thought. The problem was that the program I came from was taught entirely differently than the way it was taught. While I really like the theory aspect of Computer Science, I prefered to learn the theory through heavy amounts of programming.
Then later when they dump you head first into C for Machine Architecture and Operating Systems you can at least write good algorithms while you grapple with pointers and memory management.
Using C for your Machine architecture class? Interesting. So, scheme good for the first two years, and then use C to study machine architecture?
It's a hell of a lot better then teaching kids Java's class libraries or a million magic ways to do things in Perl. I agree. I came from a program that used C and C only. Without all the stuff that makes life easier. I've had classes which required students to use C or C++ and they're lost without their precious Java libraries.
At the University of Minnesota they start you with Scheme.
Yes, you read that right. Scheme. The language guranteed to fuck you up if you've by some strange chance of fate actually programmed before getting to the school. Why a school, with over 50,000 people attending (second largest in the US now) and a fairly large IT department does that is beyond me. Oh wait... no it isn't. They need to employ their crazy AI professors who bust a nut using it.
Hell, I transfered into there as a CS junior and the still made me take the stupid class. (FUCK(SCHEME)) or something.

From the AFP story

The vote in the "Republican Senate" was 99-0 (with one absent). Everyone voted for it.
As for the House, it appears they did a voice vote only, so not to record who voted for/against it.
So Kerry's (and everyone but one absentee's) vote in the Senate for the DMCA is... unreliable? You sound like Senator Kerry himself. Maybe this one of the bills that Kerry wrote, but didn't have his name on?
On the final version of the bill, Kerry voted "Yea".
Of course he's for it. He's for anything that might get him a vote, but not so much that might piss the people off would be against it.
Like the Patriot Act,Kerry also voted for the DMCA.
Holy fuck dude... your room temp is 109.4 degrees Fahrenheit (thank you google)?
Open a window or buy an air conditioner or something!

you HAVE to be amazed by what they have accomplished on an ever-shrinking budget.
Actually, NASA's bugett has basically been constant, receiving small increases to adjust for inflation.
1999 - ~$13.6B

Give me a break. Way to tow the dem party line. "Republicans hate women!" - if that's the case, why do more Democrat women fake orgasms than republican women?
Of those involved in a committed relationship, who is very satisfied with their relationship?
Republicans -- 87 percent; Democrats -- 76 percent
Who is very satisfied with their sex life?
Republicans -- 56 percent; Democrats -- 47 percent
The poll analysis also reveals who has worn something sexy to enhance their sex life:
Republicans -- 72 percent; Democrats -- 62 percent
And how does my link say that I'm a Republican? Maybe I'm a palestinian and I respect Arafat and think that his support of Kerry is a good thing!
absolute shit...
for just a second this post was Score 3: Insightful
Best mod ever!
What do you call a basement full of women?
A whine cellar.
This First Post brought to you by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who also brought you this story!
Haven't gotten to Scotland yet. Ireland had much better food than England. So maybe Scotland will be even better?
But better beer than Ireland or Germany? Hmm... guess I haven't had any Scottish beer so I really can't say.
When I was in England I rarely ate at any place that was a chain or would be considered touristy.
And I greatly dislike Indian food (to my wife's great horror). There are some supposedly very good Indian restaurants in my area but it just doesn't do it for me.

Voting for Bush is voting for a war criminal
So is voting for Kerry (as he admitted during his Senate testimony). So, I guess Nader?

Manchester is another city altogether.. like New York and Los Angeles
New York is 2,462 miles, 3961 km, from LA.
London is 185 miles, ~298 km, from Manchester.
A better comparison would be Boston and New York. Which, when you take into account their suburbs, almost blend into one "super city".
Last time I was in London I kept heading over to Piccadilly Circus. Why? Because of the (strangely space themed) Burger King.

"A lot" is two words. You wouldn't say "alittle", would you?
Yes, actually I would say that. I wouldn't write it though.
