Sadly there is a standard format, it's called an excel spreadsheet. Having a standard format wouldn't really help, because most of the methodologies used are quite complicated, sometimes even unique, and unverifiable if you don't have your own mass spectrometer.
Ahh the Michael Crighton argument. Many of the measurements that scientists (like my wife) are using for temperature come from the temperature of seawater. If the oceans are getting warmer then the planet is getting warmer. The other argument I've heard is that the earth has been warmer than this before, which is true, but there weren't any people then. As a person, that doesn't really comfort me much. I've read all of the arguments against global warming with an open mind and the fact is they don't hold up to scrutiny. Please do some research into it for yourself. The evidence is overwhelming.
What facts specifically do you think Gore is "fast and loose" with? I'm asking because I am not a climate scientist, but my wife is doing climate research at the moment. I haven't heard anyone in a position to know say anything other than it was pretty accurate for a powerpoint presentation by a politician. Also, he's been working on this for a long time, that makes him opportunistic how? Also, what is the "other side" of the story? That we had carbon levels like this before there were modern humans on earth? WTF?
Actually I have that machine and it plays games just fine. It also does the heavy duty computing applications pretty well too. The M90 is their solution for mobile workstation/technical computing applications. Personally I think that is the most appropriate machine for running linux that they have.
Taking this a bit seriously are we? It's freaking SOFTWARE. Equating a person that thinks that a software engineering project might come off better if it is not done by a committee with a eugenicist? Get a grip.
A little cynical are we? The vast majority of research in this topic is still done by college professors and graduate students who make very little money and profit very little from the results. If you think that money is corrupting the earth sciences you are kidding yourself. A person that could show compelling and verifiable data that climate change IS NOT happening could really make some money, so there are some scientists doing that. You really need to think through whether or not someone would put themselves through the hell of getting a PHD so that they could lie about the results.

There is no serious debate regarding global warming. There is some disagreement about the particulars, but broad consensus that it is happening. Linking to this kind of disingenuous crap is not terribly useful.
I'm sorry, but that is just wrong. I think it is the most practical branch of Mathematics. I used it when I was working as a metal fabricator, and I use it now that I am writing software for a living. I think that makes it pretty universal. Contemplate drawing a map without trig and I think you will get my point.
