We should have spent the first decade pouring billions into better computers, better alloys, better robotics, better polymers, etc. before shooting for the moon. Why? the alloys proved good enough. What could they have improved? The computing power of the moon orbiter, lander and return vehicle combined was less than a washing machine in the late 1990s had. And that was enough: why having better (more advanced) computers when the ones ad hand were fully adequate?
But far less than a higher frequency, and they can be disabled if not in use. Double the frequency, square the power loss. Double the cores, double the power usage. Keep in mind: in case of frequency increase it is simple loss, the power does not anything useful, in case of core doubling, the core is performing calculations.

Erm, drive assist in Europe, an assist to manual driving: o lane detection, the car warns you if you swear out of the lane o pedestrian detection, the car warns you if a pedestrian steps into your way, worst case it _automatically_ brakes, up to an emergency brake o range detection, if you close up to close to the car in front of you (or some obstacle, like a collapsed tree), the car _automatically_ brakes. o sign detection, speed limits, right of way cause warnings Etc.
It seems Tesla autopilot does nothing of that... so what is its point? It seems it does more harm than good.
Exactly the opposite. Capitalism, or more precisely state corporatalizm as in the US, is the reason that e.g. south america and still parts of asia are relatively poor, or have a problem with the amount of poor people.
