And Intel remains on top by the virtue of their products alone...? If both companies relied on just the quality of their products, the market percentages would definately be different.

It seems that they think they start suing and win money from all of these companies *just like RAMBUS.* Well, they must watch the news lately or they would know how companies like this are treated. ( ya know, like the vile parasites that they are) Anyway, it seems nowadays people want to sue for any reason they can get. Makes you wonder why they come out all of the sudden. You think they have a backing from RIAA? All of the CD/RW burners out there and what are they used for? Me thinks there could be something interesting in this after all.

My thoughts on this are quite divided. On one hand I think it is good for space to be commercialized. Everyone knows NASA needs lots of money. The whole ISS budget overruns really hits home with me. On the other hand, when I think of those who could afford it, it scares me. Maybe I feel like someone who has a new car and worries about the scratches on the paint. But hey, I helped pay for it. I even get the chance to work with it indirectly. When I think of billionares forking over the cash just for an expensive joyride it just does not seem right. At least the astronauts work for their right to fly. You should see how much training they have to do. Then you would know that they truely earned it. I respect them for that and I hope everyone else does as well.

Commercialization is a path for the future in space but we have only been in space for a short while and as the Mars lander has shown us, we are not truely ready for anything beyond the moon.

I would only trust an independent benchmark. From what I hear, the iComp is optimized for the P3 SSE instructions. If you check out Tom's hardware and and testing sites, you will see that the Athlon comes out on top. At any rate, it is a moot point because there are NO P3 1.13 out there anyway.

  10. Re:what irritates me. on Napster Being Sued by RIAA · · Score: 1

It seems the RIAA is trying to attack the mp3s again. My opinion is that the Phillips CD Recorder probably costs enough money that most people can't really afford it. Let's face it, would you spend two to three thousand on CD Recorder. The RIAA knows there will be a small market for this. Personally, I think this would be a bigger fish than mp3s anyway. The cds produced by the recorder can play in any cd-player while the mp3s requires something with a good CPU. It seems the bootlegging industry would get a big boost from the cd-recorder. I think the RIAA is scared of the mp3 because there are so many out there. If Napster has made the product in good faith then let them have their program. And what was that comment that one person said about being surprised about the suit because Napster had been working with the RIAA. Sounds like a standard case of stabbing a friend in the back. It is a wonder that the RIAA is not a monopoly but there sure are acting like one.
