Actually, I'm suprised they called this groundbreaking for another reason. When browsing in certain modes in Windows, PDFs, image, and video files all show a preview of the file contents.
I guess 'expanded on a feature' isn't the same as 'new feature,' though.
In case the moderators just didn't get the joke: Microsoft released a list of things to look for when buying an MP3 player. It was on slashdot yesterday. Number 2 was "Make sure you're getting all the goodies."
I don't know if he reads the market and "knows" what people instinctively want. I'd say Jobs has an incredible talent for making us want Apple products, though.
Just another slashdot post making a statement, Well that's nice and all, we already have completely unencombered ways of doing crypto.
refusing to back it with evidence, then proclaiming dominance over the subject, Nothing to see here, move along. after muttering a 'the sky is falling' sentence.

No, did you RTFA? The kid wasn't snooping on his teacher's information, he was using the information gained from the keylogging to post answers for other students. What he did was indeed illegal, and no, it isn't any need for yells of conspiracy. However, since no one has made a comment even related to tinfoil hats, your post was highly unnecessary.
And since it was a post made without utilizing the information on the topic, it could be taken that you jumped to a conclusion without proper knowledge... sometimes referred to as a kneejerk reaction. Kind of hypocritical.
Don't make it sound like Linux is problem free either. Just this morning, *11* Linux kernel vulnerabilities were posted to security focus.
Yes, the number of vulnerabilities in Linux have historically been fewer in number, but no operating system is perfect. Windows does what it does well: Providing a stable (yes, XP is stable,) operating environment for beginning to advanced users.
I know Linux based servers have the ability to limit the amount of damage a DOS/DDOS can do. I do it with my server: run daemons as their own user and limit the amount of resources they can use, both CPU and memory. That way, the system may get bogged down, but will never suffer a complete failure from a DOS attack.
I am curious as to why some larger sites like the gambling networks aren't using such preventative measures. Are they not effective against larger attacks?

Probably the best career move either of them ever made.
With Google getting it's ammended statements accepted, it means that Google stock will start being traded as early as tomorrow. They already dropped the initial IPO, and I'm sure they are being very cautious about causing any investor worries.
I bet that after their stock has had a couple months to stabilize, this will be addressed.

This is great -- but are they in any danger of copyright infringement?
I checked the site and didn't see anything regarding if they were cleared to use the Star Wars trademark.
Microsoft has a puppy, too. Linux just can't beat Microsoft's army of cute help assitants.

...and also the simultaneous realization of the courts. Morality really isn't something that should be legislated.
