No...I have not. But I make a nice side living taking care of problems for people (parents included). From time to time, the browser, one of its setting, etc. have been the problem. That is the point. They need to make money somehow. Now that they are giving the browser away, where is the income?
I like Opera...in fact, I have stopped using Firefox in favor of Opera for reasons mentioned in someone elses question. Would you ever consider going back to charging for the browser, yet making it Open Source, and offering support for the paid version?
The Big Bang is just what happened when I read your last post about the Universe expanding. There is so much that man does not know, and may never know. That is one reason I don't have a problem with science, and in fact think more Christians SHOULD look at science instead of trying to poo-poo it. I want to know what is out there...where is the Universe going, are there really little green men, etc.
John 10:30 clears this up..."I and the Father are one."
Also, when you say "A supernatural being able to create matter from nothing most likely doesn't have a gender" you could be correct. Genesis 1:26 says "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness' "
God said "Let us make MAN" so he created Adam.
THEN...
Genesis 2:13 "The LORD God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.' "
So...God apparently has a gender...male.
Of course, all of this is dependant on FAITH. If you don't have any and you think the Bible is nothing more than a neat story, then I have wasted my time.
Let the flaming and the mod-down begin (as with anyone who dares to be a Christian on this board)
I use Firefox on Mac. IE on Mac sucked. As far as I'm concerned, they are doing everyone a favor by discontinuing it. Safari is better that IE as far as that goes.
There goes that lawsuit. Let's see...now that I can't sue over that, maybe I can sue them for my getting fat on the Krispy Kreme's they provide for us every Friday.
I have been lucky...I got screwed on one deal for about $20.00. That's it. But when you look at the way eBay operates, on kind of an "honor system" and you have millions using it, you're bound to get dishonest people more and more, and you're bound to get the honest people getting tired of it.
With all of the services Google has been offering, YAHOO has to catch up if they hope to stay on top. Google started simple and grew. YAHOO exploded, and has never really grown. Personally, I like what YAHOO has to offer, but I spend much more time on Google.
Worked perfectly. Email, Internet, Applix Word, Spreadsheets, etc. Putting KDE with OpenOffice on it would only make it that much more useable and interesting.
Frankly, I don't see why this is needed...people have been using it for years.
When I was laid-off some years ago I tried the same thing. It just wasn't the right time. Oh sure, I had a few good sales go through, and I made money. The problem was that kids and the wife like to eat regularly. I was scared of venture capital (shouldn't have been) and I didn't have enough of my own money. What I made went back into the business.
I think that Open Source businesses are yet to hit their prime, and when they do, it will be big. If I were to do it again, I would offer both open source and proprietary, and sell the benefits to Open Source. Some companies are not ready to try open source yet. However, when you say "Mr. Customer, I can do that for $10,000.00 plus $4,000.00 in services. OR...I can use this open source utility which will give you every thing you want, and it will only cost you the services..."
I think that would have made it better. Just a guess, but it was fun trying.
This stinks. I never thought I'd see the day in America when a STUDENT couldn't write or say what they wanted. While I think places like Berkley are where nutcases go to school, at least they have and exercise their freedom of speech. While much of it is bunk, this freedom causes others to think, and it causes the student to formulate who they are as an individual.
Sure...this was not Berkley and he was on Scholarship. Who cares. His performance as a student is separate from what he chooses to write.
I used to have faith that America would not turn its back on the freedoms grated by the Constitution. I have seen way too much in 2005 to have that same faith.
I spend four days a week on airplanes (commercial). I would be happy to go back to the days of Airline regulation. As for ticket prices, I pay, on average $500 per ticket domestic, and $850 - $1300 for International.
I want a safe plane and copmpanies that operate said planes to have to live up to the regulations that use to be in place.
Want an interesting read, check out "Unfriendly Skies. Confessions of a Deregulated Airline Pilot." You see what I mean. Talk to any pilot or ATC and they will tell you the same thing.
I have several friends who are either commercial airline pilots or air traffic controllers. Without exception, they will tell you that Airline Deregulation was the WORST thing that happend to the passengers and crews of airliners. Why...because the air lines are no longer required to do some of the things they USED to have to do. Sure, there are fewer crashes each year, but that is because of better flight systems.
My point here...deregualtion might be good for the companies involved, but for the customers and employees, it isn't always a good thing.
As long as there are "old people" there will always be newspapers. It is a fact that people enjoy getting their paper, sitting down and reading. I have noticed that my technically sharp father has started reading less online and going back to the traditional paper. When I ask him why he says "it's relaxing."
I know when I fly (which seems to be every other day) I prefer to read a paper than fire up my computer to read a downloaded electronic format paper. Why? It is, interestingly enough, relaxing, even for me...a geek.
VERY interesting article Robin. Thanks for sharing.
Bees fly to make honey for Winnie the Pooh. That is a good enough reason for me.
Marriott sent our one of four letters, depending on your status...lost data, safe data, etc. ALL had offers of Free Credit monitoring, etc.
All in all, Marriott did a good job handling this, and taking care of their timeshare owners.
I got the letter telling me my data was safe...
The FAA has also started drafting rules to guide travel to and from Mars. TSA said to be advertising on Martian surface for inspectors.
Gotta love our Government...getting their hands into EVERYTHING!

GOOD.
It was meant as a little of all the above...but mostly to get a laugh, because I know this starts flame wars, and it was my attempt to be funny.
First the French legalizing file sharing, now this. Someone pinch me please...I think I'm dreaming.
About time that someone gives the recording industry the middle finger.

Happy Festivus!
I think that is goes to the whole Trinity thing...Father Son Holy Spirit, three in one, that kind of thing.
I think you and I could have some good debates and still walk away as friends. Thanks for a thought-provoking post.

The French built-in a white flag for good measure to surrender to any Martians they may encounter.

There...Can I please have my doctorate now?

I think you get the award for using the word "fuck" or other forms of it in one rant.

Sorry...I am a speed reader. Have been for most of my life.
