Thank God someone is finally taking us back to the 18th Century. It's about time.

The 18th century? I for one welcome our sadistic overlords!

Nope. He advocated a vote for either UKIP or the Green Party as the only two UK parties that opposed EUsoftware patents.

See his open letter, where he says:
"Please, if you were not going to vote, either vote for the UKIP or Green-EFA alliance members."

That said, I personally feel that UKIP showed no real knowledge of the patent debate, opposing it only for being 'European', and thus leaving the door open to a UK patent legislation. The greens had a much better grasp of matters.

I do share the posters concern about voting UKIP - they're a ridiculous bunch of racist scum.

You get real live people on the other end of the phone?
Wow - I've started getting (here in the UK) recorded messages, in an American accent, apparently from Florida. Swamps your tape if the answerphone picks up.
I'm on the UKs cold call opt-out list, but presumeably foreign companies aren't under any obligation by that.

I really don't know what can be done about these damnable tele-spammers. Any suggestions?

Yup, Ubuntu 5.04 (The Hoary hedgehog) will ship with 2.10 - Gnome is the default desktop and it's policy to synchronise releases.
If you can't wait till April, then you can get preview isos and preview live cds from the ubuntu site: http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/GettingUbuntu
Gnoppix is shipping a live cd beta based on Hoary, with 2.9.3: http://www.gnoppix.org/ available for *three* - count 'em - platforms: x86, AMD64 and PPC.
