Depends on experience, I started at the very bottom with a firm and worked my way to senior sys admin. I would have never expected a senior position without a degree or experience.

Here here...this is what I heard from every interviewer, who was younger than me when I went on a number of interviews a few years back. In five years I will probably still be with the same company.
