I completely disagree.
AMD's memory architecture is superior to Intel's and that makes for a much more pleasant computing experience -- in my opinion.
I ran an Intel P100 as my first 32bit machine and was happy with it until I got an AMD K2-300. That AMD chip gave snappier performance than a PIII-500.
I fell for the Intel Core2 Duo hype and bought a laptop loaded with a 2Ghz CPU. Running Vista, it underperforms the AMD Turon X2 with half the memory.
AMD's memory architecture is superior. There is no doubt about it. And in a Von Neumann machine, that's a big piece of the puzzle.
Running real-world applications, I don't feel like I'm fighting the machine because the OS can keep up with me running on AMD.
I'll be glad to give AMD my money when I bump my desktop machine.
I'm more than willing to adopt the dress of computer scientists of yesteryear.
Nothing says "professional" like a lab coat.
Or overalls. I really like the idea of overalls.
I agree with Bob Parsons.
By my reading, this administrative ruling without public comment is a horrendous abuse.
It is also directly contrary to Universal Commercial Code section 57A-2A-305a -- the section dealing with sub-leases.
Think about it: You don't "own" a domain name. You rent it for a period of time.
This is an egregious power-grab by federal authorities that deserves a swift and loud rebuke.
So do it!

Software has to be multi-threaded to make the best use of multi-core chips.

I remember reading about this back in the day as a way to EMP proof computing systems. I'm sure there's a need for it somewhere. ICBM logic perhaps?
