Yes...but can he sustain being hit by a log, which is dropped from a truck which is driven by a bear? The big questions still remains. For God's sake...WHY???
What makes you think this is the first time he's done this? I think the term "potential criminal" is far too kind. I can hardly believe, based on the amount of contact, that this is his adventure into molesting minors. The FBI didn't suddenly say'Hey let's get this SOB, he's making too much money", or whatever. This was an ongoing investigation and he happened to take the bait, as have probably several other lesser known I'm sure, individuals. Policing is NOT a there's a crime, lets go solve it profession. Investigation is a major portion of a cops work. This solves not only crimes already commited but also crimes that may be in the planning stage. I, for one kinda like the idea of removing the cancer before it causes irrepairable damage.
Whoever funds this adventure, whether privately or NASA gets off it's collective ass, it's got to be good for humanity. Remember the effect the first moon landing and Apollo 13 had on the world. Suddenly, all borders, boundries and ethic differences were lost. An endevour like this might be the tonic needed to get people's mind on something other than killing each other. But, on the other hand, maybe I'm too much of an optimist.
Exactly my point. It doesn't matter if the particular vice in question is legal or illegal. It's the fact that the consuming individual will go to great lengths, many times criminal lengths, in order to satisfy his/her habit. That's why I stated that the enforcement, time, money and manpower, is misdirected.
Finally breaking the law by going 10 MPH over the legal speed limit, while yes, I did break the law, has to be taken in a lighter view than someone who mugs you and puts you in the hospital over the 20 bucks you had in your pocket. All in the name of satisfying their addiction. (Whether it be drugs, booze or smokes, they're all addictions. Correct?)
One question... How much spin-off crime(ie: Break & Entering, Mugging, Murder and Petty Theft) can you attibute to Drugs? Doesn't matter if drugs are legal or not! The criminal mind will do something criminal in order to get enough cash for his/her fix. Unless you plan to put junckies on a government sponsored "Drug Benifit Plan" If so, please count my tax dollars out thank-you. I don't think drug laws are "silly", I just think the enforcement is somewhat misdirected.
I don't think barcoding, in your case, is what's required. I think you need to be tatooed, on the head, with a large hammer. You A.C. are a gutless idiot.
I believe your observations to be quite correct. Traditionally, most, I say most, men have had the attitude of "no women knows more about tech stuff than a man" (I think maybe it's kinda like the Tim Allen effect) Men are kinda like turkeys, they tend to huddle and prop each others ego. Most guys aren't quite sure how to react when confronted with a "techie chick".(sorry for the stereotypical phrase)A lot of guys feel threatened by a female because of the slow process of changing traditional roles. (The old "I work, you stay home and cook, have babies...") Some people just adapt quicker than others. As a sidebar, I would think that the High Tech industy, with it's rapidly evolving climate, would be more immuned to this but apparently this is not true.
I believe one was elected mayor of Carmel, California and another is touring with Motley Crue. A third went into regression and is now serving time in Folsom Prison for mail fraud. Just a thought.
It was a simple question dumbass..I thought I had read, somewhere, that they had used an old mine because of the shielding it provided. I'm was inquiring if anyone knew anything further. That's all. Sooorryy, I guess I'm not as worldly as yourself.
Uh, excuse me, but the last time I check the encycopedia, a dung beetle was not classified as an "animal" I believe they are an insect. May I suggest a Jack-Ass. A member of the donkey family.
"interesting data"...from a web cam being battered by 150 MPH winds??? You might get a better picture if you dragged the web cam, on a rope, behind your car as you flee! How can better predict a hurricane, from data received, based on a fisheye view from a camera being spun around like Linda Blairs head in the Exocist?
To kinda state the obvious, all of our assumptions are based on what "we", as humans know. A good example is just several hundred years ago, all mankind knew the Earth was flat and the Sun revolved around it. We now know this to be totally inaccurate. Are we so arrogate as to assume that our limited scientific knowledge is the be all, end all in astophysics? Just because life on Earth is Carbon based, this doesn't mean that life elsewhere is. It is the unweilding, unable to change nature in biological entities that cause their extinction.
That's my rant. Tht's better than kicking the dog.
While I'll agree it's a stretch, you could make a case that SETI is searching for life on other worlds. Therefore, searching for those worlds does, in effect, share some of the same traits.
You are on obvious case in point that most humans cannot think and talk at the same time
I have some swampland in Florida....I'm offering it only to you slashdot readers. The line forms on the left. No pushing, no shoving...everybody will get a crack at this chance of a lifetime.

I can easily dismiss the rants of this person because they are reflective of the attitude of society as a whole. Fuck him, fuck her, fuck everybody! I'm only in it for the cash. I guess it's too much to expect, for people to act in a reasonable manner. If Microsoft did this, I bet this guy would be the first one on the list to slag MS for gouging the public ect, ect.. Let's dispatch with the double standards please.

Bigger question...Was there intent? If so, he's guilty, not of murder but of the lesser crime.

Now that was funny!! Where the hell are the moderators. OH, I forgot..it's bootey kissing time

Just a thought.
"Scientists revived and restored aged brain cells thought to be dead in a group of old monkeys. "
There may be hope for Al Gore yet!
I have a suggestion. Because we are dealing with politicians, we should add the option of buying your representative a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card".
Yea, most have never been there. I appreciate what you are saying.

Got me..have to admit...I chuckled
Do you have a hairball caught in your throat?
Does not Canada have an advance research lab, located in an old mine, in Northern Ontario, which studies this very phenomenom?

Interesting concept though.
For the guy on the boat...well...uh..why?????
Gezz...It sounds like your underwear is entirely too tight! Save the whales, nuke the establishment, burn your bra ,big brother is watching you....
Pretty spooky stuff.
