My favourite browser Konqueror renders Slashdot correctly, proving one more time the superior rendering capabilities of KHTML and its technical dominance over IE and Gecko.

I believe humans will use this knowledge/technology in very wrong ways, so I would prefer if it could not exist at all. I think there should be a worldwide total ban on this kind of research.

There is absolutely no reason for a sane webmaster to use Apache 2.0.
1.3 is fine, super-stable and most versions of 1.3 have the old Apache license. 2.0 is distributed under a new Apache license which cannot keep everyone happy. For example, Theo and his OpenBSD team decided to drop support for Apache in their OS.
I have worked both with 1.3 and 2.0. 2.0 is modular and some people like it, but I think that monolithic programs are more stable and much more faster than modular ones.
No, I would not drink this water. For the record, I never drink tap water although it is generally of good quality in my place and I only buy natural mineral water from local springs as well as water imported from France (Vichy springs rules!).
In theory there would be no problem to drink recycled purified water. H2O is just H2O and the "natural water" we drink has already been polluted, but we drink it anyway.
So my problem with recycled water isn't that I don't trust the science of water purification.
My problem is that I don't trust the humans who perform the purification, be it corporate managers or government officials.
Humans are motivated by profit. They wouldn't care if their recycled water is really purified or not, as long as the consumers believe it is clean and safe to drink.
I am afraid in the future very poor Africans will have no water at all, low-to-middle-class Latinos and Asians will drink recycled "purified" water, middle-to-high-class Westerners will drink really purified water and only the very rich Westerners will enjoy true natural water.
And what can be done about it? Nothing, until the humans adopt an "open source" solution to the water problem (or should I say "open springs"?) i.e. they should have an altruistic approach to production, purifying water for the common good ("public domain purified water for free!"), and not profit-driven.
The petition has 2390 signatories and demands future SoundStorm availability from nVidia. Motherboard makers don't like like SoundStorm, perhaps because it is expensive, but nVidia should place more emphasis on what the customers want.
SoundStorm is the audio chip that was present in nForce2 MCP-T, but nForce3 and nForce4 do not have anything similar and rely on AC97.
AC97 is just not enough. If nVidia does not incorporate SoundStorm in nForce4, I think many customers will embrace the cheaper VIA
It is interesting how personal information became a form of capital in the modern age, and people want to have it.
In the past, when we were paying with actual money in person and banks were not widespread, someone who knew our personal info could not hurt us much.
When banks were invented and remote transfer of money became a reality, and especially after the introduction of credit cards, a person knowing your signature and personal details can destroy you.
And now some people are trying to create a personal criminal empire by collecting information and especially personal information.
In that sense personal info has value and people want to have it, so it's a form of capital.
Perhaps this (the malicious collection of information) is the negative side of the transformation of the economy into a knowledge/information-driven model.
It is sure that a solution must be found, otherwise people who have access to vast amounts of personal info and also have malicious intends, might endanger the modern economy.
Technological solutions can help, but I think the answer should be a cultural solution and especially education. i.e. netsurfers should be trained to not give away any personal information to anyone if they don't think about it very carefully. Giving away personal info in today's Internet is very much like giving away your money.

I wonder whether it would be too difficult to script a dupe checker with google's help.
I wonder what it eats.

We should not play with life. Some scientists seem to have no respect for life!
I already downloaded the scientific paper, didn't you?
Life is not a toy and we should not play with it. See on my blog: http://nsk.wikinerds.org/blog/index.php?p=82
My computers at full load generate enough heat to warm up my room.
How about a UPS farm of cheap noname 600VA UPSes without computer connectivity logic? For example, get some MGE NOVA or PICO.
I propose to use openly discriminatory language against the developers.
which standard has the less patents attached? I would chose that.

My ASUS A7N8X happily runs Novell SuSE 9.1 without problems and is very stable.
I have the same board and I see no problems. It is very stable and I would trust it for a server.

The first question is which VNC programs are GPL. This is the most important factor in finding the best VNC out there.
I think Slashdot should introduce a feature in its Slash script code to enable automatic conversion of all external links to their Coral equivalents.

By morning, we had narrowed the signal to an apartment, and later to a point on the wall of the apartment where the TV was located."
Not only they found which apartment it was, but also the exact wall!
I am wondering what else a satellite can do! :)
