sure microsoft has not released any specs on how to save imbeded objects from word.. so how could it.. that is the point.. Microsoft does not want any other software to beable to open its files.. or else you might start using other software..

lets see... I write software and I expect that if you use my software you must give back to the project you "took" code and accepted the license that says you must give back if you add to it (do not remember it saying if you distribute.. its says your changes..to MY CODE..
I saw no were in the story where it said you have to pay money..

COUSTOMERS will pay money (pay for software from the company in which with the distribution comes the offer for source code) or with code (no one is paying for it but you must give back to me for using my code with your changes so I can improve it)
its sounds to fair to me..
its up to you.. use my code or develop your own.. you don't have to use it.. so why should I let you make millions and not give back to the people who helped.. at least the changes to source code.

EDS is screwing the Tax payer adn the government.. one bny underbidding the scope of the project and now asking for Billions more to keep it running. I install networks all the time to only have nmci come in 60 days latter and unplug the machine adn then charge the governemnt a $120 just to plug it back in.. NMCI has numerious sercuity violations along with the lack of any real talented employees (the god ones quit as soon as they learn what they are really doing)
while it is easy to fake request for passwords you should never have something ask for root from the web.
as for programs. if you do not know what you are installing do not install it..
This "hack" (the one from the story) first requires two things to work in windows.. one JAVA and Two Admin Privlages. Microsoft makes the first XP user Admin by default so install Java and here we go..
if you read the hijack this log they posted you will see they were running as admin and Java wrote to the registry...This all leads to Windows Poor secuerity issues along with dumb (under trained) users.
this is slighlty a FireFox Problem, a little Java problem but a lot of Windows problems.
but does the common person know that ?? Good Administrators know that.. Most MCSE's I met do not.. but that is a different topic..
my comment is not on what I know.. its on the average user.. who thinks the new PC they just bought is all up to date.. even though it set in a wherehouse for 30 - 60 days.
But its not the big companies getting infected and keep spreading the same problems over and over.. its home users. The uneducated home user.. who know internet update and see they can get a CD of the updates if they read the site.. but that takes too long..

And what about Microsoft new ideal of requiring you to run an active X program to prove you bought the OS. While they have the right to make sure they only service people who pay to be serviced....Active X is one of their bigest problems. Now I work with PL level 4 systems. so maybe this is not the norm.. but NSA requires active X to be off for accreditation. They never learn.. because they really do not care.. why should they they have at lest 92% of the desktop market. Plus now they are getting into the anti-spy ware market its free now and they say it will be free for home users.. until when.. when all the competition is gone and then they can charge?

and they did say that linux and Mac OSX were unpatched..
the we have a bigger market share is not a true statment.. its an excuse.. With Microsofts new test in Active X (yes the same thing we have to turn off in all DoD system ) to see if you have a legit copy of windows will just open more holes to get your updates..
what woudl be intresting is since MS did not release the same patches for sever 2003 saying its already loced down. you have to break most of the "lockdowns" to make it work correctly.... hwo quickly is it going to be attacked. and since there is no SP2 for it.. is it a good choice to use?
