  1. Re:Woo hoo! on Google Finance Beta Released · · Score: 1

I use yahoo finance, but cant seem to figure out how to get google finance to show me indexes or exchange rates. "^FTSE", "^FTMC" "GBPUSD=X", "GBPJPY=X" etc etc dont seem to work. Anyone know the symbol I can use for them? I like the grid dragging though....

  2. Re:That reminds me on Comparison of Pandora and Last.fm · · Score: 4, Interesting

Have been using LastFm for a week or so now. But why doesn't it just download my entire iTunes playlist and build my profile from that (that contains tons of useful info, play counts, last played, my rating etc etc)? It would result in my profile being built far faster and being more complete. The more info they get from me the better. I basically just want them to find peoples playlists that have a high correlation to mine and show/play me the songs that they have that I dont. Nothing more complex than that really..

What if they make the commercials very short(5 seconds etc), ie too quick to fast forward through and they insert them at random transitions during the show? That way, the networks can offer the shows for download and be pretty sure we'll see all the adverts. Not too sure if that would suck to watch though, certainly would be a happy medium at least?

Now google is public, they have even more reason to try protect their revenue generating businesses. Should that be strongarm tactics, forcing smaller search engines, price aggregators etc out of their space, I'm pretty sure they could be just as aggressive as MS. They are cool, but definitaly think too many of us get a bit over-excited with anything Google does.

  7. Address Book on Gmail Adds Features · · Score: 1

Now when on earth are they going to upgrade their address book so I can store all the things I need, rather than just a notes section? (wants home/work-email/phone/address/mobile/IM) Also need to be able to hook their address book up, so I can sync it to my phone/PPC/IM client. Perhaps Jabber can use your gmail contacts to build its contact list?
